Guje Borgesson raised this petition with the Scottish Parliament due to her concerns that there was no Fatal Accident Inquiry or meaningful investigation following the death of her daughter Annie in suspicious circumstances at Prestwick in 2005.

Mrs Borgesson used the case of her daughter and two other well known Scottish cases to argue that the new Crown Counsel-led team of specialist investigators that the Lord Advocate is setting up should be able to look afresh at such cases.

The other cases she referred to in her petition were: Annie Davies who was found robbed and battered in her Erskine home in 1998 and Kevin McLeod who was found battered and dead in Wick Harbour in 1997.

Mrs Borgesson's petition has attracted worldwide attention with over 3,000 people from 57 countries supporting it. Unfortunately, due to ill health Mrs Borgesson was unable to attend the PPC meeting that considered her petition but she nominated Tom Minogue to speak to the petition on her behalf.

Mr Minogue in his oral presentation cited another famous Scottish case of death in suspicious circumstances—that of Dundee man Billy Harris—as evidence that Mrs Borgesson's concerns were not fanciful or unique but were part of a concerning pattern of cases that may have predicated the actions of the Lord Advocate in setting up the new investigative team.

What an utter shambles.  Guje had to engage in a sit-down protest at Kilmarnock Police Station before she could get any answers to her questions.

The Scottish MSP's wouldn't know the meaning of the words "Have we done enough"!

Any idiot looking at the evidence can see that Annie was not a suicide risk.  Could it be that Strathclyde Police want to keep their unsolved murder record intact?

That a family should have to fight/protest, just to get some answers regarding the loss of their loved one.

I despair at times - I really do!

Can you image if the circumstances were reversed and a loved one was found washed up on a beach beside some foreign airport the very day she was due to arrive home for a reunion?  And to make matters worse, when Annie's body was returned they had cut off and discarded her beautiful long hair.

It must have been awful for Annie's family and friends, I am not surprised this whole debacle has had such a detrimental effect on their health.

What a terrible thing to happen.   I was not aware of this case but I have heard of the silent walk in Edinburgh.  I am going to take an active interest in it now.  I find it strange that fresh water diatoms were found in Annie's body when such do not exist in the sea at Prestwick.  Has there been any DNA tests carried out?
