The Foreign Office seemed to believe almost immediately that Madeleine McCann had been abducted. They asked CEOP to get involved almost immediately. I think they were involved in suggesting that Murat fitted the profile of a child anductor.

Didn't realise that criminal profiling came within the work experience of a Foreign Office mandarin.

Sorry. By 'they' I meant the CEOP people.

But who do you think suggested it?

I think you might be able to clarify the content of your post with the addition of cites.  Thank you.

Of course I can Brietta. I assure you that everything I have said is well documented.

Then you will have absolutely no problem in providing cites in support of your post in accordance with forum protocol.

I often wondered why the Foreign Office felt it was necessary to say this;

(This is the earliest recorded report)
A Foreign Office spokesman said that he understood the girl's parents had gone to have dinner once their children were asleep last night, but returned to check on them only to find the girl had gone missing

"They reported it straight away," he said, adding that consular assistance was being offered.

That seems like an unnecessary statement unless there was some suggestion that they hadn't reported it straight away. It wasn't strictly true, either if he means reported it to the police. It took 40 minutes for that to be achieved.

Is there any utterance by anyone on the McCann side you don’t find odd?

According to Dr Graham Hill the Foreign Office asked him to go out to Portugal a few days after Madeleine's disappearance. At the time he was working for CEOP. That suggests that the Foreign Office thought that  child sex abuse was a feature of the case. I don't know why they thought that because Madeleine wasn't a typical target because of her age.

Despite going to PdL Dr Hill seemed rather uninformed as to details. He said the McCanns went on holiday with 16 friends. I wonder where he got that figure from? He seems to think sex was the motive for taking Madeleine and that she is probably dead.

Are you suggesting that the Foreign Office were 'on the McCann side'?

Every word said and  indeed even unsaid words, every action taken and indeed actions not taken are subject to criticism and deemed odd by many sceptics. IMO.

Is there a point of being on a Justice for Madeleine forum if one does not subject words said, unsaid words, actions taken, and actions not taken, to critical scrutiny?

It's a Justice for Madeleine forum, not a Kate and Gerry supporters forum.

It is easy to start your own free Kate and Gerry supporters forum, if that is your desire.

Otherwise, labeling the actions of 'many sceptics' with negative connotations strikes me as a transparent and unsophisticated attempt at shepherding, adding nothing to Justice for Madeleine.

But is there any teeny weeny word or action of the McCanns that you and many sceptics don't find odd or suspicious.
I would be very interested in your reply.
