Had the only just realised it was missing?
It seems they couldn't locate it when news first broke, or they did but received no data from it. Most Fitbits are supposed to be waterproof to 50 metres, but even so would lose battery charge after only 1-2 weeks.

my point is why would they wait months to try and locate an item that would have been immediately apparent as missing when the body was recovered?

She fell in the river & drowned. The End.
Going for a paddle or walked in on purpose?

Tumbled down the steep embankment. The dogs harness was found between the bench & the river. Maybe the dog pushed her in.

It will be inconclusive imo, but there are probably some distraught trolls reading this headline who were still clinging  to the hope that she’d been murdered by her OH.  In fact knowing the way their minds work I doubt an inquest will change their minds about that anyway.

Peter "If she's in the river, we'll find her" Faulding won't be at this inquest.  No wonder, both he and the Lancashire Police dive team didn't exactly pass with flying colours on the search front...

I was wrong about it being ruled inconclusive.  It's been ruled an accident.  Consolation and closure for her family.  The best possible outcome.

a statement from Nicola’s family today
: “The last few months have been extremely tough to process for our family. The emotional impact will stay long in our hearts and whilst we will never forget the loss of our Nikki, we will forever remember her as a brilliant mum, partner, daughter and sister that we all knew and loved so very much.

“Sadly, we feel the need to again raise and address the issue of social media. It’s upsetting that we’ve continued to receive negative targeted messages and still wildly inaccurate speculation being shared on numerous platforms.”
