The main injuries caused by Neville's horrific beating are -

Black eyes.

Broken nose.

Linear bruising to the cheeks.  Possibly from a hard object like a gun.

Lacerations to the head.

Linear type bruising to the right forearm. Possibly from a hard object such as a gun.

Bruising to the left wrist.

Bruising to the forearm.

Three circular burn type marks to the back.

The judge said Neville put up 'a ferocious fight for life'. So Bamber would have had to negate Neville with this beating while Neville was still alive.

If the judge was wrong and Neville did not fight back, then why would Bamber give him this beating ? He just needed to shoot him again to kill him, which was his sole objective.

The view that Bamber killed him with eight bullets then gave a dead man this beating is warped.  Realistically Neville did put up a ferocious fight for life and Bamber had to give him the above injuries. The crime scene, with upturned chairs, smashed lights and spilled sugar, supports this.

Having established that Bamber had a massive struggle with  Neville, while he was alive, the following questions need to be answered -

1:

Was Bamber able to inflict this beating without getting any marks on him ?

2:

Was Bamber physically strong enough to inflict these wounds on Neville ?

3:

Did Bamber have time to give Neville this beating and kill everyone else ?

4:

Will there be blood splatter on Bamber ?

5:

Could Bamber realistically win a fight with an alive Neville ?

6:

Why would Bamber put circular burn marks on Neville ?

The answers to questions 1 - 5 are yes.

1: He was padded up and a fit man.

2: He was strong enough to give Neville black eyes or a broken nose. Especially with the rifle.

3: He had all the time in the world. No one knew he was there.

4: He could dispose of any clothes which had incriminating blood on.

5: He was a young fit man. Padded up and fighting a badly injured Neville.

The answer to question 6 is -

He needed to make sure Neville was dead. After Neville put up a ferocious fight. He was controlled enough to do this calculated act.

So it was very possible and plausible that Bamber could commit the brutal beating to Neville. Bamber is the only other suspect now that Sheila has been ruled out of committing this beating.
