The only way it MIGHT have worked would have been via a "To Whom It May Concern" letter stating should an accident befall the Bamber family..........................but what 20 year old would think of that? Had she gone to the police, Jeremy would have denied it and bang would have gone her chance of becoming the young Mrs Bamber.
Some of what occurred doesn't make sense. Julie testified that Jeremy was concocting a plan to get rid of his parents but surely even she wasn't so thick as to realise that Sheila and the twins may have inherited too?
Julie stated that Jeremy had originally came up with a plan to burn down the farmhouse with his sleeping parents inside but decided against it when he realised the value of some of the house contents. Had he carried out that plan Sheila and the twins would still been in line to inherit at least Junes half of the estate.
My own view is that Julie put Jeremy's rantings down to sour grapes, I don't believe for a minute she actually believed he would carry out his threats. She undoubtedly saw herself as 'Lady of the Manor' at some stage so she was quite prepared to put up with him in the meantime. The night of the murders however changed everything!
