Bamber & Collins tried to sell photos of Sheila

(1/2) > >>

Tim Invictus:
Various members of Tesco's keep saying that the Bamber and Brett Collins attempt to sell private porn photos of Sheila to The Sun newspaper is nothing but a smear story. Some say The Sun alone printed the lies; other members say The Sun worked in collusion with Essex Police to smear Bamber.

Isn't it strange when making up this so called lie, The Sun included Bamber's bosom buddy at the time Brett Collins. How did The Sun know Collins didn't have proof he could not have been at the meeting with The Sun reporter on the date and time stated? Seems a silly thing for The Sun to have invented unnecessarily!

Didn't Jackie Priest tell us she asked Bamber about this meeting to sell the photos and he told her something like he wished he had never gone to meet The Sun reporter? Can you confirm that please Jackie?

John:
Bamber and his pal Brett Collins tried to flog nude pictures of his murdered sister Sheila Caffell around Fleet Street in London for a substantial sum before he was arrested.  His friend Brett Collins approached several newspapers on his behalf but every one declined the offer. The Evening Times printed an article shortly thereafter referring to the offer which they felt was in rather poor taste and certainly newsworthy in itself given the circumstances.

Tim Invictus:
Thanks John.

I didn't realise the grandmother died within months of the murders and Bamber lost out on £125k. That was a tidy sum in 1986. Bamber must have been sick as a parrot!  8@??)(

And Bamber knows he probably would have inherited his share of the estate by now and be a wealthy man! Osea Leisure Park alone must be worth many £millions now!

Holly Goodhead:
Clappedout has made reference today of the press initially reporting June was responsible for the murders.  This was certainly contained in Claire Powell's book as I have read the book myself.  I believe the reason CP made reference to this was to show how the press misrepresented the case in the early days as there's clearly no truth whatsoever in June being responsible.

Do we have the press article re June?

I have always believed JB was and still is the victim of the most appalling witch hunt.

Btw I think Jackie's surname is Preece not Priest?  Perhaps it's a Freudian slip and you see Jackie possessing priestly qualities  8)-)))

Oops yeah sorry ...... Preece! She hasn't stalked me for a while, guess I forgot!

I do not think there was a witch hunt against Bamber in the slightest. DS Jones sniffed Bamber out the first day because he was exposed to him and his behaviour at the cottage in Goldhanger! The relatives and Colin realised the story didn't make sense quite early on. Neither Jones nor the relatives were listened to for a long time until RB went over the head of DI Jones!

Surely you don't think these people got together to try and do Jeremy out of his inheritance? These relatives are the very people you would expect to see through Bamber's sick master plan and it took a hell of a lot of pressure to get the police to listen to them.

Where in there is a witch hunt?

Holly if push came to shove, I believe you would come down on the side of the 'compelling evidence' rather than your suspicion that Sheila killed them all in a murderous psychotic episode! In my opinion anyone who suspects that to be true just has to read the known facts from the crime scene to realise that it is impossible.

Never mind Julie Mugford's testimony which by all accounts was compelling at trial.
