Williams-Thomas and another ex-cop poking their unwanted noses in again and being wise after the event.  Just let Lancashire Police get on with the job without interference from publicity-seeking has-beens, for chrissake!...

‘Appalling’: Nicola Bulley’s family say personal issues revealed to stop people selling stories
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Smith said Ms Bulley was classed by police as a “high-risk” missing person

In a statement released through Lancashire Police, Nicola Bulley’s family said: “It has now been three weeks since Nikki went missing. We, as a family, believe that the public focus has become distracted from finding Nikki, and more about speculation and rumours into her and Paul’s private life.

“As a family, we were aware beforehand that Lancashire Police, last night, released a statement with some personal details about our Nikki. Although we know that Nikki would not have wanted this, there are people out there speculating and threatening to sell stories about her. This is appalling and needs to stop. The police know the truth about Nikki and now the public need to focus on finding her.

The public focus has to be on finding her and not making up wild theories about her personal life.

“Despite what some media outlets and individuals are suggesting, we are being updated daily and receive support from our family liaison officers.

“Nikki is such a wonderful daughter, sister, partner and mother and is missed dearly – we all need you back in our lives.

“Nikki, we hope you are reading this and know that we love you so much and your girls want a cuddle. We all need you home. You can reach out to us, or you can contact MissingPeople.org.uk. Don’t be scared, we all love you so very much.”

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

There is a suggestion elsewhere that MWT got hold of info re: Nicola’s vulnerabilities and that is why the police had to go public with them before he did, the interfering swine.

ETA having watched the video he actually admits that’s exactly what happened!

Haven't read or watched anything from MWT.  I am not a fan.  But I'll have a look now.

I'm all for transparency but sometimes you just have to have trust and allow the police to get on with their job.  Quite obviously the family would initially have confided all relevant factors to the police who have said they were aware of the situation from the beginning.

The volume of social media comment was adversely affecting confidence in the police as well as damaging their investigation, forcing them and the family to release personal information into the public domain.  Where it is absolutely nobody's business.  But if it was disrupting police work, I can see why it had to be done.

It is great that people are concerned.  It is great that the value of publicising a missing person is recognised.  But I think going OTT on the internet with all sorts of wild speculation is not the way to do it.  A family finding itself in the unwanted spotlight of unimaginable distress and trauma, just should not be treated like an episode of the Kardashians

He's such a pain in the a$$!  But what else can you expect from someone so clueless that he thinks Bamber is innocent, Pistorius didn't intend to kill Reeva Steenkamp and Madeleine walked and wandered?

(Sorry John... but I know you really, really don't think the latter)

I think the police may have jumped to conclusions in this case.

They have explored and investigated all options, but “lost in the river” is the most plausible and logical one.

Why is it plausible and logical though?

I’m not spelling it out for the hard of thinking.

You made the statement but if you don't explain it's just babble imo.

I don’t need to explain.  It’s self evident imo.  If you think abduction/murder or ran away to start a new life is more plausible and logical then that’s entirely up to you, and nothing I say will change your mind.  I certainly have no intention of squabbling over it.

Fine. I don't think it's self evident that it's plausible and logical that she was 'lost in the river' just because she had problems.
