What  ?  ...  nothing ?

Well I've been doing a bit of web searching and this chap no-one seems to know anything about,  who's name crops up time and again in the McCann case,    seems to have had   a very murky connection with the private detectives hired by the McCanns  (  the ones who have since been arrested ..  Metodo 3  )

Can it really be true that the McCann's investigators used Madeleine Fund money to pay  him to discredit the police  ?

You couldn't have looked far,  icabodcrane.

Amaral knows him well enough. He's also the lawyer that was acting for Leonor Cipriano, for FREE!
But I presume you already know all about him, and are just being picky.

He must have been very disappointed when she had 7 months added to her sentence last week for lying to the court   ... and why did he stop representing the child murderess if he cares so very much about her  ?

You can read all about him here...

http://www.madeleinefoundation.org.uk/Marcos%20Correia%20outburst.html

which includes this piece...

Marcos Correia was to tell the media, when he first became publicly associated with the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, in January 2008, that on Sunday 6 May 2007 - just three days after Madeleine McCann was reported missing – he had been told that ‘underworld sources’ had told him that Madeleine McCann had ‘been abducted, raped, killed and her body thrown in a ‘murky lake’.’

He was later to admit that this story was a complete and utter fabrication having absolutely no foundation whatsoever.

He then came up with an entirely new account of how his interest in the Madeleine McCann case was supposed to have come about. He now had an entirely novel explanation for how he came to believe (see below) that Madeleine’s body had been thrown into a murky lake.

He now informed the media that his interest in Madeleine had begun with a supernatural vision. This vision, he claimed, had come to him upon his conversion to spiritualism in Madeira. He said that he had recently become a spiritualist and had received a supernatural vision on the evening after his very first attendance at a Spiritualist Church meeting on Madeira, on Saturday 5 May 2007, two days after Madeleine was reported missing. In this vision, he claimed he had seen Madeleine’s body being thrown into a lake – which he subsequently decided must have been the Arade Dam.

This is the full account he gave to Portuguese journalist José Leite, from the magazine O Crime, of this vision, in December 2008:

QUOTE

“On 5th May [the Saturday immediately after Madeleine was reported missing], on returning from a spiritualist meeting in Madeira, immediately after going to bed, but just before falling asleep -  at around midnight - an extraordinary thing happened to me, for the first time in my life. I saw the image of a little girl that must have been around four years of age, with blonde, shoulder-length straight hair, blue eyes, very disturbed, visibly unable to understand what was happening to her, accompanied by a female being of great beauty and great spiritual standing.

“Then, other images appeared to me, concerning what had happened to this girl. I saw a strongly-built man, blue eyes, somewhat balding and with blondish hair, brutally raping that girl and then strangling her with his hands, throwing the cadaver into a lake. I perceived by a map that was shown to me [presumably he means during his alleged vision], that this happened in the Algarve, but I couldn’t read the name of the village. I stress that I hadn’t seen any photo of Maddie before. I only knew, from what I’d heard on the radio, that she was 3 years old”.

Under questioning, Correia allegedly admitted that Metodo 3 had paid him ‘expenses’ for the searches at the Arade dam which is where he claimed that Maddie's body lay.   It appears that the divers were probably funded not by Mr Correia, but by Metodo 3, who were in turn funded by Kennedy/Madeleine Fund.

What do you mean  'under questioning'

Where and when was he questioned about his connection to,  and money recieved  from,  the McCann detectives ?

I know nothing about this fellow,  except for a few things I have read since yesterday  so my questions are out of genuine interest  (  thanks for the article above  )

The private life of Marcos Correia is his own business.  He has defended Leonor Cipriano for Free, and against enormous opposition from The Portuguese Judiciary who persistently refuse to even consider that her Conviction is at the very least Unsafe, despite accepting that a Confession was obtained by Torture.
He is a brave man in the face of a Fascist State, and for that I admire him.

I was as grossly offended then as I am now, and ever will be about Unsafe Convictions.  Best not to set me off on The Irish Problem.

At the very least, The Convictions of both of The Cipriano Defendants were Unsafe.  The minute that Torture comes into it, the Case is lost.

Bar ABSOLVED Marcos Aragão Correia participation of Gonçalo Amaral

Marcos Aragão Correia, Attorney Domingos Maria Leonor Cipriano, hereby informed the media that the Portuguese Bar Association, through its competent organ for this purpose - the Council of Ethics Madeira, notified him of the date of yesterday that all disciplinary proceedings against him were dismissed hung and ordered filed.

Were at least three of their processes, namely:

- Case inquiry to determine whether the Attorney Marcos Aragão Correia has violated or not the secrecy that is required to make public reports of its constituents Ana Sofia Brás, José Araújo for crimes committed against them by Gonçalo Amaral de Sousa;

- Disciplinary proceedings brought by another registered, accusing Marcos Aragão E of illegally refused to continue to be your advocate, after it discovered that that registered wanted to sponsor a question immoral and illegal;

- Disciplinary proceedings brought by Gonçalo de Sousa Amaral, through its representative Dr. António Cabrita, accusing the lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia practice of various unlawful acts in defense of Leonor Cipriano.

After holding a public hearing, the Portuguese Bar Association unanimously agreed that in any situation Lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia committed any illegality or irregularity, and therefore rejected all pending disciplinary proceedings, ordering them to close.

This decision, it should be noted, was unanimous, with all five members that make up the Council of Ethics Madeira agree entirely with her, and so acted accordingly on 12 November this year, ruling that Marcos was notified Aragão Correia on yesterday, December 7, 2009.

Marcos Aragão Correia expresses its satisfaction for having done justice in this case may well continue to defend the mother of Joana Cipriano under these slanderous suspicion that hung himself on almost all of them created and circulated by convicted Gonçalo Amaral de Sousa with the sole purpose of slandering and harming the existing illegally Lawyer Leonor Cipriano.

Marcos Aragão Correia also said that will be attentive to the new book defamatory of the convicted Gonçalo Amaral de Sousa, and that all attempts to the same pay and continue to slander defame its constituent Leonor Cipriano, the daughter of her constituent, Joana Cipriano, stepfather the child and / or the legitimate representative of this family, will, as has happened so far, the subject of criminal proceedings, which will follow its due diligence procedures are followed as the other processes that have been filed against the same offender.

The best interests of Joana Isabel Cipriano Guerreiro will always be the motive of all our actions.

Along these lines, and under the Resource Review for the mother of Joan, his lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia also informed that in order to avoid further unnecessary suspicions slanderous by the enemies of innocent children missing, will not attend the hearing of Leonor Cipriano next Wednesday 9 days (14 hours) to be held at the sentences of Évora, and maintaining their constituent repeating the grave slander that this could be to be constrained by his lawyer. Thus, it is not mandatory presence of a lawyer in their care, the mother of Joana alone respond to all questions of Dear. Dra Court Judge Executive Sentencing of Evora on the disappearance of her daughter Joana.

Attached in this release is the scanning resolution of the Portuguese Bar Association, calling for journalists to Mr disclosure of its contents, given the extremely negative impact that represented the wide dissemination of his preventive suspension while practicing in 22 days January of this year, based on the same main libelous disciplinary proceedings brought by convicted Gonçalo de Sousa Amaral.

Thanks for that Truth is restored.

Counsel the mother and stepfather of Joana Isabel Cipriano Guerreiro

Marcos Aragão Correia.

Well done, You, DCI.  I knew there was something.  Never trust a word said by Duarte Levy.  Not even his name.  Best ask Joana Morais about him.  Although she isn't much keen on talking about her "Liaison" with him.

Sorry if that is a bit unkind, but that woman has done so much damage.

Marcos Correia is an honourable man who fights for Human Rights, and cares very much about Leonor Cipriano.

Please don't talk about what you don't know.
Marcos Correia was a dilettante that in order to survive his father's brilliant career, fame and obviously a burden for his name, he decided to  get into whatever organization would accept him.

I'm not going to reveal all his youthful lunacies, out of respect for his family, but what led him to use the McCann case  to try to become a "star" was the chance he got by associating himself with ACED ( Association against exclusion for development). This Association was created by a University teacher (António Pedro Dores, if memory doesn't fail me) that was mainly worried about the human rights in prisons - in fact he is notable for denouncing cases of torture in prisons.

Mr. Alexandre, which had been involved in his very early youth in the creation of a political party, PND, know by its radical positions against the system and sometimes even dating radical nacionalist and racist movements, decided that his future would be more profitable if he made a name for himself.

He made a ridiculous case out of a supposed letter sent to the Mccs, putting an action in Court against the Post Office for not having delivered it, for which he was dismissed in shame and had to pay, I beleive 100 €.

Later he made up all that fuss around João Cipriano, that he confessed he led to lie in order to implicate Gonçalo Amaral.

Finally he admittedly used Leonor Cipriano to try to incriminate Gonçalo Amaral. We know now that Leonor was condemned to a further 6 months over her previous 16 years, for having lied to the Court about Gonçalo Amaral and the other 4 PJ officers.

So, Mr. Alexandre Marcos Correia is indeed a very honorable person. I'm very sorry for his family and his father's greatness, fortunately will not suffer from his unnamely actions.

I praise here one of the most important figures of the Portuguese culture, António Manuel de Sousa Aragão Mendes Correia, while I despise the son that didn't honour him.

What have YOU done?

What on earth are you on about ?

Why should I be spending my time and money searching for Madeleine, when her disappearance is a result of her parents incompetent parenting ?

Why haven't they spent their own money rather than relying on donations from others and book sales ?

Plenty of other people have done far more to search for MADELEINE than her parents ever did, and received scant, if any  thanks for it.

A brief insight into the life of Marcos Aragão Correia

1975 - Born: Madeira.

2000? - Aged 25, sets up legal practice in Madeira claiming he ‘specialises in human rights’ cases.

2001? - He sets himself up as head of a ‘Human Rights Association’, ACED, widely regarded as a self-promotional ‘joke’ in Portugal, and which has a track record of making outrageous legal claims.

2004? - Co-founds right-wing, nationalist, political party, which as yet has little popular support and no MPs or Councillors. That party has taken into membership a number of people with neo-Nazi ideology, some of them who have served prison sentences for their crimes.

3 May 2007 - Madeleine McCann reported missing.

5 May 2007 - He now claims that on this day, two days after Madeleine was reported missing, he attended a spiritualist church on Madeira for the first time, and on returning home, sometime before midnight, had a vision in which he learnt that Madeleine had been raped by paedophiles and killed (see also below). NOTE: We do not accept this account as truthful. He had previously claimed that ‘underworld sources’ had told him about Madeleine having been abducted, raped and killed (see next item)

6 May 2007 - This is the day Marcos Aragão Correia had previously claimed that his underworld sources told him that Madeleine McCann had been raped and killed and her body thrown into a ‘murky lake’. He later admitted that this had been a lie.

9 May 2007 - He claimed that on this day he told the Portuguese Police what the underworld sources had told him about Madeleine being killed. He says the PJ ignored him.

21 June 2007 - Aragão Correia organises a release of yellow balloons on Madeira in support of the McCanns’ claims that Madeleine had been abducted. This is the first clear sign that he was actively supporting the McCanns’ campaign.

June to November 2007 - There is no information about his actions during this period, except claiming that he sent a recorded delivery letter to the McCanns (see below). Other evidence (see below) suggests that by September 2007, or soon afterwards, he was probably in touch with private detectives from Método 3, negotiating a lucrative financial deal with them, on behalf of the McCanns, to (a) arrange searches of the Arade Dam (see below) and (b) to represent child murderess and serial liar Leonor Cipriano in a set of legal proceedings primarily intended to target Gonçalo Amaral.

2 Oct 2007 - Claims to have sent a Recorded Delivery letter from Madeira to the McCanns in Rothley on that date, allegedly containing details of ‘vital clues and evidence’ in the case. He also says that he had earlier notified the Polícia Judiciária in Funchal (Madeira) about his concerns but got no reply.

17 Oct 2007 - Says he was notified that the Recorded Delivery letter never arrived to the McCanns, although allegedly the letter was ‘signed for’.

13 Nov 2007 - Mysteriously sues the Portuguese postal service (the Correios de Portugal - CTT) for allegedly failing to deliver this letter. He told the court that heard his claim: “They are controversial matters, because there is no material proof of them, but I assure you there is a high degree of credibility about them. I am fulfilling my duty as a Portuguese citizen to take my ideas to the right place. I took my ideas to the PJ in Funchal, but since they didn’t reply, I took them direct to the McCanns”. He says a CTT official falsely reported that the Recorded Delivery letter had been received. The judge dismissed Aragão Correia’s claim as unsubstantiated and ordered him to pay court costs of 100 euros (around £80). Source: Madeira Daily News, 13 Nov 2007.

10 Dec 2007 - Says that on this day, he personally visited the Arade Dam with Método 3 detectives. He says that on the same day, he also told the Portuguese Police about his theory that Madeleine’s body was probably lying in the Arade Dam, near the tower by the lake. He said he had reached this conclusion after carefully considering information he said he had received from ‘underworld sources’, who told him that Madeleine’s body was ‘in a murky lake, with a beach, near some trees’. Later, when questions were asked about his sources of information and why he hadn’t acted sooner, he changed his story to say that he had had a ‘supernatural indication’ or ‘vision’ of where Madeleine’s body might be (see below).

Dec 2007 - late Jan 2008 - Said Portuguese Police did ‘nothing’ to act on his ‘information’.

Jan 2008 - Says that he paid British divers from Dive Time, Lagos, Algarve to search one part of the Arade Dam at a cost of at least £1,200 a day. He says he did this out of the goodness of his own heart, but he later conceded that Método 3 paid him ‘expenses’ [denied by Método 3]. He was described in sections of the British press as ‘a Good Samaritan’ for apparently funding these searches out of his own pocket. The media were conveniently on hand to record the discovery of a 17-foot length of cord, which he said ‘could have been used to tie up Madeleine’. At the same time the head of the Portuguese Police publicly stated that in his opinion the McCanns were made arguidos ‘hastily’ by Gonçalo Amaral and his colleagues.

Mar 2008 - Further search of the dam, this time managing to find ‘two black plastic bags of bones’ in the lake. Once again, media were on hand to take photos of Dive Time divers, bags of bones etc. - there were lots of pictures of divers in black wet-suits in British media. Aragão Correia says he is ‘99% certain that Madeleine’s body will be found here’ in the Arade Dam.

These stories served a number of purposes, including:

(a) promoting the claim by the head of the Portuguese police that they had acted ‘hastily’ in making Dr Gerald and Dr Kate McCann suspects
(b) promoting the notion that the Portuguese police had been incompetent by (allegedly) deliberately ignoring the vital evidence of Mr Aragão Correia’s underworld sources that Madeleine had been killed and her body dumped at the bottom of a murky lake
(c) re-opening the possibility that Madeleine’s body being dumped in the Arade Dam tied in with the suspicious sighting of a woman transferring a young child to another car in the Silves area, the woman being said to look like Michaela Walczuch, Robert Murat’s girlfriend
(d) promoting the view that Dr Gerald and Kate McCann were not responsible for what happened to Madeleine. Aragão Correia said: “I don't believe Kate and Gerry did it. It could have been a single madman or a gang”.

Mar - October 2008 - Silence from Aragão Correia, apart from, in the background...

8 April 2008 - Visits Leonor Cipriano in Odemira Prison and has discussions with the Prison Governor there.

October 2008 - Dramatically pops up in court to replace the lawyer representing the serial liar and murderess of her own daughter, Leonor Cipriano, currently serving a 16-year jail term for murder, in her claim that a confession was beaten out of her by Gonçalo Amaral and his four detectives. The original claim against Mr Amaral had been made in 2006 by other lawyers but was now, suddenly, being handled by Marcos Aragão Correia.

November 2008 - Admits to a proposed deal to ‘crucify Gonçalo Amaral’, He tells the lawyer representing the four detectives accused together with Gonçalo Amaral that his detectives will only get suspended sentences for a more minor offence if they give evidence against Gonçalo Amaral and state that it was he who ordered the torture and that he was there when it happened.

November 2008 - Calls defence lawyer for Gonçalo Amaral, Mr Cabrita, a ‘goat’ in the court room [‘cabrita’ is also the Portuguese word for goat].

21 January 2009 - Suspended as a lawyer/barrister by the Madeira Bar Association [Madeira Lawyers’ Order] and thrown out of court by the trial judge in the case against Mr Amaral based on Ms Cipriano’s allegations. He was later allowed to continue representing Ms Cipriano.

22 May 2009 - Wins the case against Gonçalo Amaral, at which Mr Amaral gets an 18-month suspended jail sentence for allegedly filing a false report. Says triumphantly: “Gonçalo Amaral has been convicted. The target has been hit”.

8 June 2009 - Brings new proceedings against Gonçalo Amaral on behalf of Leonor Cipriano, claiming once more that Amaral’s men had tortured her.

July 2009 - Brings further new proceedings against Gonçalo Amaral, this time on behalf of Leonor Cipriano’s former partner, António Leandro David da Silva, who also alleged that he had been assaulted by Amaral’s men.

3 October 2009 - Tries to sabotageGonçalo Amaral’s birthday partyby driving up outside the restaurant where the party was being held, making a provocative obscene gesture, and then fabricating to the Public Ministry Police claiming that he had been assaulted.

Do you have anything to support these claims or are they just gossip

I shall not bother to answer much of that John.  So much is biased and untrue

But let's look at the last one.

Marcos and his clients, Ana and her hubby ... who Amaral had threatened over the phone ... arrive at the harbour and stop to watch a forework display .  They are lighting up and watching with Marcos sitting in the car ... and Amarals party come out of a restaurant to watch the fireworks as well.  A big group on the pavement, at his 50th bash.  They spot Ana and her hubby and Marcos.  They come over to the car, threatening him and trying to pull him thru the window.
Are you suggesting that Marcos and Anas hubbie started it and were taking on that big gang?

Amaral kept back out of dangers wayas he always does. Wonder if he had his diamond earring in?

An endangerd Marcos and clients drove off to the police station to report the very nasty incident

Now, John,  I notice that you have left out of the list the latest Court case between Amaral and Marcos.  Why is that?

Is it because Marcos and the other guy (?)Dore won the case hands down?  Amaral AGAIN got it wrong.  Amaral lost.

No wonder he (and all Amaral worshippers) hates Marcos Aragao Correia.  Marcos keeps beating him.

Well this should put some things straight.
I look forward to reading all the cherry picking and watching all the bobbing and weaving.

This Tuesday, Faro Court acquitted Aragão Correia, Leonor Cipriano's lawyer – the mother of the girl who disappeared from the Algarve in 2004 -, as well as professor António Pedro Dores, of having defamed the ex-PJ inspector Gonçalo Amaral.

Gonçalo Amaral
Aragão Correia and the president of the Association Agaist Exclusion for Development (ACED), António Pedro Dores, were accused of having defamed the ex–inspector, who almost eight years ago investigated the disappearance of Joana, Leonor Cipriano's daughter.

In the summing up, the judge stated that the necessary conditions had not been met in order to even consider the legal possibility of sentencing António Pedro Dores, president of ACED, who published the "Report On the Torture of Leonor Cipriano Perpetrated by the Policía Judiciaria", the subject of the law suit brought by Gonçalo Amaral.

As regards Marcos Aragão Correia, the acquittal confirmed his compliance with the civil duty of denouncing acts of torture, an obligation of every citizen, and, on the other hand gave as proven that Leonor Cipriano's lawyer was convinced that Gonçalo Amaral was even a participant in the acts of torture against Joana's mother.

Upon learning of the acts committed against Leonor Cipriano – whose existence, already the subject of an independent judgement, was not questioned by the court – by means of a conservation with his client, Aragão Correia was convinced of the truthfulness of the version he heard, which, in the Court's understanding, annulled the seriousness of its publication.

However, based upon the witness statements heard – including that of Leonor Cipriano - the Court did not admit as proven that Gonçalo Amaral had been present at the acts of torture nor that he had coordinated the team which inflicted them.

Nevertheless, the judgement alleged that Aragão Correia knew that publicly attributing those acts to someone could constitute material "that was damaging to his honour and dignity", however he did this in the conviction that Leonor had told him the truth.

In 2009, Gonçalo Amaral was sentenced to a one and a half year suspended sentence for making a false statement in the trial of the ex–PJ inspectors and officers, accused of torturing Joana's mother.

The ex–inspector considers that the ACED report was "damaging to his honour and personal and professional considerations", which is why he decided to bring a complaint for defamation against Aragão Correia and the president of the association.

The Public Ministry requested the acquittal of both men, alleging that this was not a case of defamation, as all evidence pointed to the existence of torture, in spite of the fact that it has never been proven exactly who was responsible.

Heard as a witness during the final sessions of the trial, Leonor described that the inspectors placed a bag over her head, beat her all over her body and hit her with a phone book and a hard cardboard object.

Allegedly, the acts of aggression took place after she had been forced to kneel on two glass ashtrays, which according to her, had been supplied by Gonçalo Amaral himself.

Leonor and the missing girl's uncle, João Cipriano, were sentenced in November 2004 to 20 years and four months and to 19 years and two months imprisonment respectively, for the crimes of qualified homicide and hiding of a body.

Why does it shine a whole new light on it?

We all know that amaral was convicted only of covering up the torture.......the court accepted that cipriano was tortured in police custody...there were no witnesses...how convenient...cipriano had a bag over her head so it was impossible to prove who assaulted her and who was present...the pj knew what they were doing

Well they had tortured before.  Plenty of experience how to hide the culprits.  This was, mainly anyhow, the terrorist branch, the DccB, brought in specially from Lisbon.

Amaral was head hioncho.  He must have brought them in.  If so, he is responsible.

Amaral lost .  Obviously that judge didn't agree with him

It appears to me that the judge upheld the law.
Dr Amaral was not found to be culpable in any torture or the orchestration of it.
Sr Correia was not guilty of defamation because he was able to demonstrate he had been misled by his client (sound lawyer get out)

It appears to me that the judge upheld the law.
Dr Amaral was not found to be culpable in any torture or the orchestration of of it.
Sr Correia was not guilty of defamation because he was able to demonstrate he had been misled by his client (sound lawyer get out)

Indeed he did.

As I have said before, it also highlights just how difficult it is to prove libel in Portugal.

Again mccanns and supporters, take note.

The important part is that the judge upheld the law in a country which, according to some posters on here, has a judiciary which is as bent as a dockers hook.

You are more likely to be bitten by a Labrador than any other type of dog.

Those are two facts...not opinions..

This is what the court said. Until someone appeals the judgement and the appeal upheld this will stand. It matters not what you, I, Uncle Tom Cobley and a few more others think

John's summary:

Jan 2008 - Says that he paid British divers from Dive Time, Lagos, Algarve to search one part of the Arade Dam at a cost of at least £1,200 a day. He says he did this out of the goodness of his own heart, but he later conceded that Método 3 paid him ‘expenses’ [denied by Método 3].

John seems to have found something to indicate that M3 denied funding Marcos, but he hasn't posted the sources.

Could you provide some kind of reliable source about this, John? What, if any, these expenses actually concerned? He might well have been paid expenses to be interviewed by the PIs to check if he had any knowledge of what may have happened to her. I don't see a problem with that. Is there anything verifiable beyond that? It may even be possible that costs were paid to check the lake. I wouldn't have a problem with that either (if ever that was the case). The hunt for little April was massive and if the police hadn't explored that possibility, there may have been a missed lead.

3 October 2009 - Tries to sabotageGonçalo Amaral’s birthday partyby driving up outside the restaurant where the party was being held, making a provocative obscene gesture, and then fabricating to the Public Ministry Police claiming that he had been assaulted.

so how much of this can be substantiated

Marcos Correia had initially claimed that he was a ‘Good Samaritan’, funding searches of the dam, costing £1,200 a day, out of his pocket. Under questioning, he later admitted that Metodo 3 had paid him ‘expenses’ for the searches. It thus appeared that the divers were funded not by Mr Correia, but by Metodo 3, who were in turn funded by the McCanns.  His claim to be a Good Samaritan was exposed as yet another of Mr Correia’s lies, but, just as important, it raised these questions:
Was Marcos Correia paid more than just ‘expenses’ for his Arade Dam searches? – and
Did the McCann Team authorise payment to be made to Mr Correia to carry out those searches?

At the time of the second search of the Arade Dam, one newspaper reported the McCanns as being ‘furious’. It claimed: “Kate and Gerry McCann reacted with fury yesterday after divers began a second search of a reservoir for Madeleine's body. The couple told friends that the search - funded by a Portuguese lawyer who they claim is a ‘fantasist’ seeking publicity - is a distraction from the hunt”.

The report continued:  “Marcos Aragão Correia claims crime contacts told him she was killed and left in the lake two days after going missing. Correia spent thousands of pounds on a previous search but found nothing. But a McCann source said: ‘There's no evidence Madeleine is in that reservoir. They believe she is alive and are concentrating on finding her’.”

It is conceded by the McCanns that Método 3 were acting for them from September 2007.

We have also established that Método 3 was in contact with Marcos Correia by 10 December 2007, when their detectives met him at the Arade Dam.

We know that Método 3 paid at least expenses to Marcos Correia for the Arade dam searches.

Which bit are you disputing?  The fact that Correia is a fantasist or that the McCanns weren't happy with his involvement?

  Having read the following

"of course even though amaral has been found not guilty  it doesn't mean he is innocent "

This logic needs to be applied consistently, if this is what the poster believes.

applied to those cleared [ when they had not been arrested. charged, so nothing to be cleared from]

just because a legal eagle claims that there is no evidence to link you to any crime, that does not mean that you have not committed any crime.
Perhaps there is evidence, just not discovered..yet.
 Quite right.

it's not just what I believe ..it is true and should be applied consistently...the fact amaral was not found guilty does not mean he is innocent it means there was insufficient evidence to convict...of course he may be innocent

Stop telling lies Dave.  Correia is a self confessed medium/spiritualist who was shown to be a fantasist with his Madeleine claims.  The McCanns couldn't do anything else other than distance themselves from his ramblings.  Do read up on the facts dear boy.

Oh nearly forgot, he admitted that he was out to get Amaral, thing is though, who paid him?

From the horse's mouth.

I perceived by a map that was shown to me, that this happened in the Algarve, but I couldn’t read the name of the village. I stress that I hadn’t seen any photo of Maddie before. I only knew, from what I’d heard on the radio, that she was 3 years old”.

Marcos Correia said on the record that Método 3 themselves, acting on behalf of the McCanns, had asked him to get involved in the Joana Cipriano case. He went on to claim that the McCanns, via Método 3, had “ordered him to do an investigation”into allegations regarding the accusations against Gonçalo Amaral and his men by Leonor Cipriano.

What I don't understand is why the McCanns' private detectives became involved with Marcos Correia at all

I mean,  they were employed by the McCanns to follow the thesis that Madeleine was alive and findable ...  were they not  ?

So why did they pay the expenses of this man who purported that Madeleine had died in horrific circumstances based on nothing more than an grotesquely  graphic  vision/dream  he had  ?

Why did they pay attention to him at all   ?

Do you imagine that the McCanns  would consider the possibility that Madeleine   is  dead based on someone's   'vision'   ?

Why was Marcos Correia's  'vision'  that Madeleine had been murdered in horrific circumstances  supported by the McCann private detectives   (  and his  'expenses' paid accordingly  )

Two things here.  Firstly, it was Método 3 who paid Correia.  We also know that they in turn were being funded by Kennedy and/or the Madeleine Fund but we don't know at what stage, if at all, the McCanns personally authorized any payments to Correia.  We do know the McCanns weren't at all happy with his involvement so take out of that what you may.

Remember too that Correua admitted that Madeleine’s parents preferred to spend the decreasing money from the Madeleine Fund in mainly following leads that placed the hypothesis that their daughter was still alive, they dismissed the possibility of paying professional divers to scrutinize the dam. That Correia offered to pay for the first phase of the searches in the dam and later received much support (even financial) from mediums and spiritists who believed in and corroborated his theory.

Secondly, one has to remember that Correia initially claimed that underworld sources had told him that Madeleine's body could be found at the Arade Dam.  He later changed this and claimed that the information came to him in a vision.

I don't have time at the moment but it would be extremely useful to have a timeline of events and who did what and when.

I try to look at all points of view and then introduce the evidence to see where it leads.  The Morais site is biased towards but the articles which have been mentioned originate from interviews conducted directly with Correia.  Maybe he was given information by underground sources, maybe he did have a vision.  Whatever the truth is the information provided by Correia to Método 3 was useless, no remains were found in the Arade Dam or anywhere else for that matter.

He is an attention seeker and paid for by those working for the mccanns.

As to his visions, I would like to see that given as 'evidence' in court.

This is why Marcos Correia got involved.  It's worth reading the whole interview actually, in my opinion the man's barking;

How did that premonition of yours about the Maddie case happen?

On the 5th of May, upon returning from a spiritualist meeting in Madeira, right after going to bed, but before falling asleep, at around midnight, an extraordinary thing happened to me for the first time in my life: I saw the image of a little girl that must have been around 4 years of age, with blonde, shoulder-length straight hair, blue eyes, very disturbed, visibly unable to understand what was happening to her, accompanied by a female being of great beauty and great spiritual standing… Then, other images appeared, related to what had happened to her: I saw a strongly built man, blue eyes, somewhat balding and with blondish hair, brutally raping that girl and then strangling her with his hands, throwing the cadaver into a lake. I perceived by a map that was shown to me, that this happened in the Algarve, but I couldn't read the name of the village. I stress that I hadn't seen any photo of Maddie before, I only knew, from what I'd heard on the radio, that she was 3 years old.

That individual that you describe, was he ever referred to within the PJ's investigation?

In fact, there were references about a strongly built individual of British appearance as a suspect. Still, as this was my first vision in my entire life, there was, on my side, a certain reluctance in divulging it. I let a few days pass, even to see whether or not the little girl showed up. Until I gave the lead to the PJ, on the 9th of May, but they never contacted me. Later on, an agent from the PJ in Portimão told me that the investigation's thesis was not based on abduction anymore. Then, I decided to carry out a private investigation: I went to continental Portugal, and visited the various lakes and dams of the Algarve, until I reached the Arade one which was the only one that precisely matched the scenery that I had seen in my vision. I decided to contact a senior official at Método 3, the detective agency that had been hired by the McCanns to investigate their daughter's disappearance. When I mentioned that the dam was located in Silves, I noticed that they were surprised and immediately wanted to speak with me.

I find it possible that M3 paid some expenses for divers searching the Arade dam at some point, and possibly paid Correia a fee  to attempt to interview the Ciprianos to find out if they were aware of any kind of child trafficking going on that could offer a potential lead.

Anything beyond that seems extremely unlikely to me.

Who paid Metodo 3? It was a BS search with no foundation. There was a letter indicating the area of the other closest dam so they search the wrong one. Very interesting and another letter is found after this BS search indicating the same other dam location.

It is my understanding that Marcos Aragao Coreia was financially assisted by a third party or should I say third parties.  None of them to do with The Mccanns.  Originally he was reported as having paid for the search himself, but he denied that and it was revealed that businesmen etc supported the costs.

I am doing this from memory ... and it has been a long time.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

BTW, I have been to the Arade Dam, just for a quick look see, but couldn't see anything that inspired me.

The Barragem de Bravura is equi-distant from Pdl and Figueira where Jaona Cipriano went missing.

I dont think either of them ended up there.   I think they are both alive.

He originally said that it was an underworld source, then it changed to some kind of psychic vision.

I'm agnostic about psychics. Some are scammers, others are genuinely convinced that they have paranormal powers. Perhaps one or two really do, who knows?

Investigators don't necessarily throw reports of "visions" in the vertical filing cabinet, because there's always the possibility that a perp or someone who actually does know something could be attempting to report it anonymously.

I believe he may have received information from a felon ... but however he came by it ... it proved to be erroneous ... leading one to wonder why there has been such a concerted effort to have it cemented into public consciousness that Madeleine McCann is dead  when there is a 50~50 chance she is alive.
My thoughts exactly, Brietta

Too many Red Herrings pushing that Madeleine is either dead or hidden in PdL area.

False stuff designed to try and make people believe that PdL is the place to look.  Wasting Police time and ensuring that nobody looks farther affield.

She was cleared out of PdL immediately ... of that I am pretty certain

There has been a concerted effort by an organised and practiced group to take the attention away from what actually happened to Madeleine, where she went etc.  IMO

Being from a scientific type background, I did not want to believe in Psychics,  BUT

Psychic Matt James has astounded me with what he was pointing to.   For years I puzzled over his runes etc.  doubting but hoping thta they might help.

After I had worked things out by my own means without his help, I popped in to relook at Matt James and I suddenly realised that he was SPOT ON !   Absolutely SPOT ON with some of his predictions and runes. A.M.A.Z.I.N.G, but you have to know how to decipher them.

I cant always do that.

Then there is a lady in Swansea who is brilliant too.  She is shy and remains anonymous, but she too was SPOT ON

I am still wary, cos manyb are frauds, I think, but now I am prepared to give psychics a try before dismissing them.   Maybe you would benefit by trying that Stephen?

I'm actually not at all sure why we are discussing either Marcos Aragão Correia or the Arade dam.

I have become aware there are people who have "issues" with the man himself.

Particularly Mr Amaral who tried to have him declared insane and to have him committed to an asylum. He failed in that attempt.

Mr Amaral wasn't best pleased with him, possibly because he acted as lawyer for Leonor Cipriano, and sued him for libel.  Mr Amaral was unsuccessful in that endeavour, lost his case and the judge ordered him to pay all the costs.

As far as the reservoirs go ... Mr Correia acted on "information received" ... so where is the problem in a search being organised?

Is there any suggestion that the police were remiss in not sending divers down to search these vast stretches of water on spec without any concrete information to go on?

Correia's "information received" ? From where? The spirit underworld? or was it the "underworld "as in the local Mafia? Do you know?

I wonder if Correia also tried to speak to the spirit of Michael Jackson ?

Or is he just BAD ? 8)--))

If this thread were combined with Amaral and the Dogs we could abbreviate it to Reservoir Dogs.

Do you comprehend the words 'please remind me' ?

Correia IMO remains a waste of space, and in the same frame as Derek Acorah.

and just remember who employed him, metardo3, who were employed by the mccanns.

Enough said.

Is there a cite for "metardo3" or even Método 3 which is not exclusive to sceptic forum gossip or free newspapers chatter employing Marcos Aragão Correia.

If memory serves me well the Drs McCann were not best pleased about the whole episode at the time.

If you need reminding ~ Marcos Aragão Correia was the lawyer who gave Mr Amaral a few drubbings in the Portuguese Courts.

Correia is also a member of the Cadburys club and has links to the mccanns and metodo3, who of course have employees with criminal convictions.

As the saying goes, know people by the company they keep.

So ... in other words ... you do not have an independent cite to substantiate the claims you make ... I would actually have been floored in amazement if you had ...
I will just add it to the tally of the number of times you have been asked for a cite and have failed to deliver.

You do like repeating yourself.

As to worthwhile content in posts, when do you intend to start ?

I don't really know a great deal about Marcos Aragão Correia and I certainly haven't gleaned much of relevance from any of your unsubstantiated posts about him.
From what I have read about him it seems he is a man of genuine good intent and appears to have incurred sceptic wrath as a result of being sane enough to evade the asylum to which Mr Amaral wished to consign him as well as being a good enough lawyer to thrash Mr Amaral in court both as a result of the criminal conviction for perjury and in the failed and expensive litigation Mr Amaral pursued against him for libel.

However I have located one quote from a source with which you may be familiar in which Marcos Aragão Correia specifically denies being paid by Metodo 3 to undertake the Arade dam search ... and outlining why their interest in the area.
It rather confirms also that the Drs McCann were not best pleased at diversions of this type as they had a great deal more to do with their ("decreasing") money ... such as concentrating on live sightings of children who might have been Madeleine.

IMO Metodo 3 come out of this episode well ... although they did not 'employ' Marcos Aragão Correia, they ignored NO possibility relating to Madeleine's case, which is what they were paid to do.

**Snip
... and as a consequence of that, Método 3 offered full support to my research.
But given the fact that Maddie’s parents preferred to spend the decreasing money from the Madeleine Fund in mainly following leads that placed the hypothesis that their daughter was still alive, they dismissed the possibility of paying professional divers to scrutinize the dam.
Then, I offered myself to pay for the first phase of the searches in the dam, having later received much support (even financial) from mediums and spiritists who believed in and corroborated my theory.

Now why did Metodo3 employ him ?

Why not.

You have your bias towards Correia and you would not be interested in him apart from his involvement in this case.

The link  simply shows what most people already know already.

Metodo3 were useless, employing people who now have criminal convictions, and Correia.

The mccanns employed Metodo3.

and what did Metodo3 employ Correia to do ?

Cadbury club? chocolate...Mmmm

I think it is unfair to say he is like Derek Acorah(ew)... for a start Correia is one gorgeous looking guy! Mwah.

He does come across as a very caring and conscientious person. I believe his involvement with the lake search came from a genuine need to help. There is nothing wrong with people who are in touch with their 6th sense, police are re knowned for acting on 'hunches'  same thing...
