English Judicial Delay Revolt

British investigators hope for authorization from Public Ministry to return to the Algarve this month.

The Attorney General's Office has received the fifth letter of request from the British police as part of investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, but the authorization to carry out the steps requested is blocked due to the entry into force of the new judicial map.

Investigators from Scotland Yard , who still hoped to return this month to the Algarve , are frustrated and angry over an obstacle in the investigation.

According to the CM, it found that due to judicial reorganization that took effect in early September, the Maddie case was designated a low priority in the Public Ministry of Portimão. Processes considered urgent are those with defendants in custody, they will have priority. The CM reveals that only after 15 September will the new recently named Public Prosecutor of Portimão be in a position to examine the more recent applications by the British authorities.

Among the requests made as the CM already reported, are new interrogations of suspects already heard by the PJ after fruitless searches done in Praia da Luz. According to the British Press, the elements of the Scotland Yard, "...are eagerly awaiting a formal response to their request so they can plan their next steps." It will be recalled that recently, a Report by the English Interior Ministry concluded that the investigation of the Maddie case created an environment of " frustration " and " resentment " between the Portuguese and the English police.

One cannot but wonder if the Public Ministry of Portimão is in any great hurry to allow the investigation into Madeleine McCann’s case to proceed.  I think further delays in responding to the letters of request runs the risk of bringing the Portuguese Justice System into further disrepute.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Too true...the entire reinvestigation is in danger of turning into one massive farce.

What do you mean in danger of John ? I think we've already gone way beyond farce !

Let’s count the months, shall we?

At what point did you decide that the Met weren't actively investigating the McCanns then?  It must have been very recently, as you seemed to be under the impression in a recent discussion we had that the McCanns had not been ruled out by them.

Yes, no news is good news!  say some, but I personally think it is BS.

They will find nothing because no one is talking - NO ONE! not for love or money- the people who know are keeping it very much to themselves. SO in order to call this a wrap.... pick a dead guy - any dead guy and it was HIM!  Problem solved-job done. There is nothing to see here people move along now!

After the searches, police said it was the ''first phase of this major investigation which has been agreed with the Portuguese'' but that there was "still a substantial amount of work yet to be completed in the coming weeks and months''.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/pa/article-2684888/MCCANNS-DEVASTATED-BY-BOOK-CLAIMS.html

They forgot to put in years after "weeks and months". I'm sure that they will find lots of suspects and solid evidence of her location.....

I'm sure they will. After all, they have the entire population of PDL and further afield  to choose from.
I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Excuses, excuses.

As I said some time ago, the 'blame' for the case being shelved once and for all will be placed on the Portuguese.

Surprise, surprise.

the farce..... is not only the Portuguese  though is it.........

Last week details emerged about a Home Office report which showed British police forces helping with the search for Madeleine hampered the Portuguese investigation.

So many UK agencies were keen to be seen to be helping, it created a “sense of chaos and competition”.
Always listen to both sides of the story before you judge.

The first storyteller you will always find has modified the story, for there benefit BE WISE.

search for Maddie held up by portugals court chaos...what a farce the Portuguese justice system is proving to be

“In an attempt to improve the service, 20 courts have closed creating a huge backlog of cases and a nightmare for administrators.

Trials are being held up as vast amounts of documents are moved all over the country in a bid to streamline the service. So government lawyers are giving priority to running trials and urgent cases.”

Seems to be a fair enough way of streamlining a country’s Justice system … introduce ‘well thought out and obviously planned procedures’ … to ensure utter chaos.

Madeleine McCann’s case isn’t yet in court and as one which has in effect been running for over seven years should perhaps have merited a little thought by public prosecutors to enable a bit of continuity.

Maybe the perps are just as 'organised'.
Maybe they haven't got round to sorting out their stories - disposing of evidence - planting evidence - or whatever it is criminals do when they know the police are coming for them.  They sure don't need to even consider doing a runner ... nobody in Portugal seems to be at all interested in them.

Is Portugal a member of the European Union or is it the third world country this disgraceful chaotic reorganisation of justice services seem to imply?

The chaos in the courts is in part due to the computer system but the main reason is these changes were part of the demands made by the Troika (IMF, CBE and EU) in order to save money on public spending. The objective is to finish with any public service whether it be health, education, welfare and justice and our rightest government is only too happy to comply.

It's the same all over regardless of which European country you reside in. Fiscal finances are in a mess and it is justice which is suffering as a consequence.

This will be my only comment on this as it is OT. Just to say that the EU demand of a 3% deficit (which is impossible too attain) is to force countries to cut public spending, impose austerity and to eventually privatise public services. Neo liberal politics at its best unfortunately.
