In a statement on their Find Madeleine website, Kate and Gerry McCann criticised the media saying: "There is an on-going, already challenging, police investigation taking place and media interference in this way not only makes the work of the police more difficult, it can potentially damage and destroy the investigation altogether - and hence the chances of us finding Madeleine and discovering what has happened to her.

"As Madeleine's parents, this just compounds our distress."

Portuguese air force helicopter used in Madeleine probe
Last updated Thu 8 May 2014

In the latest stage of the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, police today commissioned a Portuguese air force helicopter to fly low over Praia da Luz taking photographs of areas of interest to the inquiry.

An Alouette helicopter was seen flying above the beach and other areas close to where Madeleine disappeared in May 2007.

8 people of interest....hmmm....awfully close to the Tapas 7 don't you think?

They would not need a Portuguese prosecutor to allow their questioning..

Assuming that the Media embroidery regarding the nationality of those suspects, is correct.

As the BRITISH CPS have written to the Portugese, I suggest that the suspects are British and the Portugese yet again are being slammed in the UK media just because that's the way the UK media rolls.

Pathetic.

Or, you could be REALLY SUSPICIOUS and say that what makes it to the news HAS been leaked by SY, and is purposely inaccurate because they are playing mind games with the real perps.

At this point Operation Grange doesn't give a chit what the press is publishing.  They nod their heads, smile, and pull a dove out of their elbow while everyone's looking the other way.

Very clever, and aimed solely at the POI's NOT US.

The Met have stirred the pot. Murat/Lagos police have issued criminal proceedings against Birch for trespass. There is no way they are going to allow that drive to be dug up, as private investigators evidence, criminally obtained, does not constitute new admissible evidence.
Madeleine will remain missing & we will not know if she is under that drive or someone has used a deflection tactic.

I agree with everything in your post Misty.  In particular when you say they will not allow that drive to be excavated.

I found it odd that only now have Mr Murat and the Lagos police taken action against Mr Birch and not before.
There certainly has been enough provocation.

Mr Birch has publicised that he has illegally trespassed on Mrs Murat’s property.

Therefore IMO use of section 56 & 57 of the penal code makes Mr Birch a self confessed criminal.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

The document was prepared on 21st March, so legal advice had been sought before then. Murat & CdM had already pulled a stunt with Birch as soon as they knew the investigation was going to be re-opened, knowing full well that there was a distinct possibility the drive could be dug up if a warrant was issued. The body could have been there at some stage & moved, or may still be there. Whichever way, the game changes.

If Mr Birch's assertion is true and the body moved to avoid discovery as a result ... I believe modern technology would indicate recent disturbance of the area under the drive.
I think anyone in whose interest it would be to move her would be aware of that too, therefore if she was there, she still will be, so I think it is logical to follow it through and dig the drive.

The Murat & DdM 'stunt' ~ did that involve digging up the drive for a price?

I think that whatever, the present direction of the investigation could not have been foreseen.

Odd is not the word for it.

Outrageous is a better word.

Anyone could be forgiven for thinking that certain elements in PT are frightened that someone or some people will be charged and that  they are making it impossible to for Brits to win cos. they haven't searched Murats ... and Madeleine might have been buried there !

Any excuse so that it is too difficult to prove the individuals being charged are definitely guilty ?.

And why cannot the 3 burglars accounts be looked at, to see if any monies were paid in at the time?
Am I remembering correctly that the homes of these 3 individuals cannot be searched either ?

Allo, allo. allo .... wots goin on ere ?  >@@(*&)

Is it a case of the Elites win again?  Money and power buyeth everything?

I think they did foresee it, but the initial reaction was to demand an up-front fee of 50000Euros, payable to CdM who would have exclusive rights to the dig. Contract was no body found - no money refunded to Birch.
My initial thought was the body would be uncovered, complete with indisputable forensics linking it to Kate (strands of her hair in Madeleine's hand), meaning Amaral was right & would be the super-hero, Murat would be in the clear & make a mint from media exclusives, etc, etc.
But something happened to alter that - not quite sure what yet - hence the stalling/silence & now the trespass charge.

That is correct, Sadie.
Permission has not been given to search the homes.  Although I doubt if anything incriminating would be found at this remove and the amount of forewarning given.

I find the lack of co-operation with the letters of request very disappointing indeed, and if not intended to obstruct, that is the end result.

You are not  'raising'  discussion   ...  you are shutting it down

Members post reasonable questions and instead of addressing them  you post  'counter questions'  as a diversion

It' is a common propaganda ploy
So it's quite alright to say "I think x or y lied or hid a body" but not alright to question why they might have done it, or how or when?  Fantastic.  If you perceive that there are no logical, common sense answers to some of the questions that I pose (that still keep the parents and friends in the frame) then really you need to think about why that might be instead of sticking your fingers in your ears and ignoring what common sense is desperately trying to tell you!

British police use helicopter as they fly over Portuguese wasteland in new hunt for Madeleine McCann after her disappearance from holiday resort seven years ago.

* British policemen take to the air in fresh search for Madeleine McCann
* Detectives scoured Praia da Luz and coastline using helicopter
* Specialist officers expected to examine several sites in holiday resort
* Team said to consist of six police officials and two forensics experts
* Digging comes seven years after British girl went missing aged three
* Scotland Yard wants to speak with eight witnesses 'relevant' to case
* This has been requested in letter to the Portuguese attorney general

In Faro yesterday, DCI Redwood (right) leads his team to the meeting with Portuguese police.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

The 8 suspects

Maddie detectives arrive in Portugal

Scotland Yard team's list of key names

THE team of British detectives leading the hunt for Madeleine McCann flew in to Portugal with the names of eight suspects.

Three are thought to be workers from the Ocean Club holiday complex where the three-year-old was snatched in 2007. A fourth suspect may be Euclides Monteiro, a local junkie who died in a 2008 tractor accident.

The convicted burglar was linked to a string of sex assaults across the Algarve and also worked at the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz.

The other four suspects' names have not been revealed.

The six Met officers - led by Det Chief Insp Andy Redwood - had long talks with Portuguese cops in Faro before starting the latest stage of their investigation.

A military helicopter was commissioned to fly above the Praia resort to take aerial photos of potential excavation sites.

One theory the team are working on is Madeleine was snatched to order. The Brit police have been banned from checking suspects' bank accounts to see if large deposits were made around the time of the kidnap. And a move to raid their homes has been blocked by a Portuguese judge.

The team - which includes two forensic experts - has identified four sites where they may excavate. One is a hillside where Madeleine's mother Kate, 46, of Rothley, Leics, dreamt she had been placed. The digs are not necessarily to find a body - but could unearth vital clues.
