The Attorney General's Office has received the fifth letter of request from the British police as part of investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, but the authorization to carry out the steps requested is blocked due to the entry into force of the new judicial map.
Investigators from Scotland Yard , who still hoped to return this month to the Algarve , are frustrated and angry over an obstacle in the investigation.
According to the CM, it found that due to judicial reorganization that took effect in early September, the Maddie case was designated a low priority in the Public Ministry of Portimão. Processes considered urgent are those with defendants in custody, they will have priority. The CM reveals that only after 15 September will the new recently named Public Prosecutor of Portimão be in a position to examine the more recent applications by the British authorities.
Among the requests made as the CM already reported, are new interrogations of suspects already heard by the PJ after fruitless searches done in Praia da Luz. According to the British Press, the elements of the Scotland Yard, "...are eagerly awaiting a formal response to their request so they can plan their next steps." It will be recalled that recently, a Report by the English Interior Ministry concluded that the investigation of the Maddie case created an environment of " frustration " and " resentment " between the Portuguese and the English police.
