We had a problem in our house with eating chocolate eggs bought for others. More than once I had to go out and buy more because we'd given in to temptation. I also remember my eldest daughter returning at Easter expecting her chocolate egg to be there dispite her having married and moved out. She was right too, it was there waiting for her.
I never really took to Easter bonnets, but I debeloped a habit at one time of making birthday hats for special birthdays. I would decorate them with all sorts of things; baby photos, birthday badges and poems but also little containers with streamers and party poppers in them. They were very popular and a good way of spotting the birthday person from afar. Until others took a fancy to them as the celebrations wore on, that is. My son was born on 1st January and he got his 18th birthday hat at midnight on New Year's Eve, along with his first legal pint off his Dad.
It's a nice tale, is it not?
Here's my Easter tale, short and simple.
We've had 'rough' weather here, on and off, recently. But Easter Sunday was stonking hot. The kids couldn't have an Easter egg hunt in the garden because the chocolate would melt. So we swapped to plan B and held it indoors.
PS I also remember the ceremony of hard-boiling eggs, painting them, and rolling them down hills. Great fun!
