Thank you.  I am beginning to feel much better about it now.

I think it’s easier once you have made that decision Eleanor and its the kindest thing you can do for her now, remember that.

Thank you, Faith.  I will remember that.  Phew.  Saying I am going to do it was the hard bit.

There's a brilliant site you can use to see the current weather anywhere in the world real time or as a forecast, it loads instantly and that is what I like about it.  You can view it as an App or just type in  www.windy.com

Looks like the Algarve will have lots of sun and very little wind today.

Thanks for the link.  It is indeed lots of sun and very little wind today.

I need to nip into the Habana and get them to sort out their webcam.
What's up, old man?

I'm Taurus too, and married a Virgo in 1965. Maybe Taureans are long-suffering lol?
Taureans are notoriously stubborn, now it all makes sense!  @)(++(*

Sorry if I put a damper on things.  It will all be alright.  Time to go, Sweetie.
I shall be thinking of you, such a sad time the end of a pet’s life.  We were all in bits when Harriet died and she was only a silly little hamster.  Love to you and the Pug xx

Thanks, VS.  Charlotte has just had the remains of a roast beef dinner.  I shall have to be careful or she might think something funny is going on.

Did people hunt for Easter Eggs as children or is it a recent development? I got one chocolate Easter Egg and my children got one each. On Good Friday everyone went up a local hill. You had hard boiled eggs dyed different colours to roll down the hill. The tradition still survives;

I remember the painted hard boiled eggs.  Cadbury et all have since hijacked Easter for their own ends.

I remember making painted eggs at school. We pierced an (ordinary) egg with a pin at either end, then blew out the contents (how wasteful!), then painted the shell.

Have never been on an Easter egg hunt, but have just received some photos of my 20 month old grandson in Canada taking part in his first one!

I reckon Cadbury et al have hijacked both Easter and Christmas for their own ends!

Happy Holidays everyone. Have to "spit out" my good news: my new granddaughter was born on Saturday-------and this grandchild lives in England!

Yes, at least we ate our dyed eggs. Congratulations on the birth of your granddaughter; a cuddleable grandchild is lovely. Happy holiday!

We didn't have egg hunt we got one egg good Friday one Easter Sunday and one Easter Monday.

I remember the best thing about Easter was making  Easter bonnets with real daffodil and colored crepe paper.

Also hot cross buns - and painting eggs. Just simple things and fun, commercialism IMO have taken the pleasure from it now.

The most memorable one was when my dad worked in Holland -  and brought us an easter egg in a 24" box with a beautiful crinoline lady on the front.

I remember as well easter eggs were a lot more expensive -  than they are today and more appreciated.

We had a problem in our house with eating chocolate eggs bought for others. More than once I had to go out and buy more because we'd given in to temptation.  I also remember my eldest daughter returning at Easter expecting her chocolate egg to be there dispite her having married and moved out. She was right too, it was there waiting for her.

I never really took to Easter bonnets, but I debeloped a habit at one time of making birthday hats for special birthdays. I would decorate them with all sorts of things; baby photos, birthday badges and poems but also little containers with streamers and party poppers in them. They were very popular and a good way of spotting the birthday person from afar. Until others took a fancy to them as the celebrations wore on, that is. My son was born on 1st January and he got his 18th birthday hat at midnight on New Year's Eve, along with his first legal pint off his Dad.

It's a nice tale, is it not?

Here's my Easter tale, short and simple.

We've had 'rough' weather here, on and off, recently.  But Easter Sunday was stonking hot.  The kids couldn't have an Easter egg hunt in the garden because the chocolate would melt.  So we swapped to plan B and held it indoors.

PS I also remember the ceremony of hard-boiling eggs, painting them, and rolling them down hills.  Great fun!

It is said that associating eggs with Easter was an example of adopting existing traditions into Christianity. Was there a Saxon Goddess named Eostre with a spring feast day associated with eggs? Quite possubly.

You might well be correct.

I had assumed it was connected to rolling the rock away at the opening to Christ's tomb.

But then I am an atheist, so what would I know about Christianity?
