TV Licences
G-Unit:
It's the story of my life, really. I qualified for a free TV Licence at the end of April, got it in the post last week and have just seen on the news it'll stop next June!
I suppose one free year is better than nothing. I do agree it shouldn't be universal; £12 and a bit per month isn't that bad, and it's peanuts to some pensioners.
I think the winter fuel allowance and free medical prescriptions should be means tested too.

lol yeah its like standing ages in a queue when the next till opens and everyone gets in front!
I was of the impression that those with a state and private pension pay full rent ,(if renting) and tax on their 'income' if over by twenty pence for allowance.
TV lience is a scam to be scrapped. making people criminals because they own a TV and CAN recieve live braodcsts from other stations is a form of oppression IMO.
Pay less for their 'stars' get rid of the old boy network, and make them produce quality programmes. The recent pay scandal and agest /sexist descrimination shows it is unfit for purpose with regards to talent scouting.
G-Unit:
I am fond of the BBC and I don't like adverts. I don't think £12 per month is excessive to be honest. It allows the BBC to show niche programes attracting small audiences.
There's a minimum income for pensioners and those on basic state pension (like Eleanor) get it topped up with Pension Credit. Those on Pension Credit get Housing and Council Tax Benefits and will continue to get free TV licences.
I don't think all pensioners should be rewarded with free TV licences whatever their income. I would means test the winter fuel payment too.
