He's got is quoted from a SY source, not this forum..

No one in this world would believe Madeleine was abducted by a black guy.. he is so easy to notice in PDL and plus Smithsman was white..

I wonder how this is going to finish!

It could have been Tractor Man AND the Burglars.  It was hardly likely to have been a one man job, and someone had to organize it.
And the phone calls were between more than two people.  Allegedly.

Perhaps you can clarify, Icabod.

On the one hand you note that all non-Scotland Yard agencies so far involved in the case end up being portrayed as having 'bungled'. (The implication being that the McCanns are spinning this view, if I understand you correctly).

On the other hand, SY as you say are pursuing Smithman (that is the official line, at least) as their main lead - a lead  the McCanns are understood to have quashed via suppression of the efits  for several years.

Are the McCanns therefore in cahoots and agreement with SY , or not?

The portuguese police in 5 months got it further than NSY in 3 years. The portuguese archived an investigation process in 2008 because they went against a brick wall. Suspects protected in their country and lack of cooperation from that country.

When NSY took the review of the case and, without considering the evidence gathered in the original investigation, declared that the child could be alive, or unfortunately dead, and declared parents and friends not suspects without even reading the files, why on earth did they take all this time to search for an alive child?!

I hope that missing children in UK never receive this kind of treatment, because if they are recovered they will be alive only by a miracle.

People are more aware now but in 2014 you're believing the same tabloids who printed any old tosh they felt like printing in 2007? >@@(*&)

This current wave started with the Mail article of January 3rd (which must have had police collaboration imo) - but everything since then has been speculation by the usual suspects, except last week's Standard article where the police actually spoke.
First you forget the contents, you can't memorize years and years of pseudo news, what you don't forget however is that they finally were proved to be false and you better don't trust them totally. But the wish to believe is very strong, as believing is much easier than doubting, so the justification comes swiftly : "perhaps this time they're right".

In the recently reported war between the Portuguese Police and the Metropolitan Police Services (UK Daily Star Feb 18th 2014) a source close to the war revealed that the Portuguese had mounted an air strike of 12 American built General Dynamics F16s. The original mission had been to take out Redwood of the Yard but due to an error in translation the Fighting Falcons bombed and strafed the bejazus out of the corner of the yard. The source said well it just shows their general incompetence. A source (not the same one) indicated the Portuguese may well sub contract the next strike to the Israeli Air Force in exchange for free holidays on the Algarve.

Sorry Admin but this post is no dafter than the press!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All done and dusted

Jery Lawton putting hs name to cobblers but that's his job description it seems

I asked him about this before and he replied that he only provided the information to the editor and that he was not responsible for the final article.  IIRC the comment related to Señor Monteiro being called a monster.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Its an article in The Star, nuff said. Who reads such trashy papers anyway. I take no notice its all done to sell papers to gullible people.

SY would hardly be dissing the Portugese police right now as they need their cooperation. I wish the media would bog off and let the police do their job.

The media should hang their heads in shame.

They are allergic to printing one critical word about the McCann's.

What happened to Journalistic Integrity?

Where are the editorials requesting neglect charges be laid against the parents?

It truly seems no one is making a public example of the most neglectful parents in the UK.  8()(((@#

If a person had not read a single newspaper article on the case in all those years they would not have missed anything of much significance (there have been fewer articles of importance than you have fingers).

Nothing has changed. The poster has a point.

The news about 'the conflict' between the SY and PJ doesn't come from the Star.
It comes from Correiro da Manha.

Red tape hampering search for Madeleine McCann]

By: David Pilditch
Published: Thu, February 20, 2014

THE parents of Madeleine McCann want police to form a joint British and Portuguese task-force to find their daughter.

The couple are said to be frustrated that the level of co-operation between the two forces “isn’t as it should be”.

It comes amid growing concerns that investigators are conducting separate inquiries instead of pooling resources.

Last night a friend of the couple said they were worried that a potential conflict will hinder the search for Madeleine, abducted in May 2007.

The source said: “It is obvious that the co-operation between Britain and Portugal isn’t as it should be.

“There are two police inquiries going on in two different countries trying to find out what happened to Madeleine and you would want and hope that they would work together.”

British investigators are focusing on three local burglars blamed for a string of break-ins at the Algarve holiday resort of Praia da Luz, where Madeleine was staying with her family. In what could be a breakthrough, Scotland Yard honed in on the three men after a painstaking trawl through mobile phone records.

It is understood there was significant phone traffic between them around the time Madeleine, then aged three, vanished.

Portugal’s Policia Judiciaria are concentrating their efforts on a theory that a sacked resort worker abducted Madeleine. Heroin addict Euclides Monteiro, 40, was killed in a tractor accident four years ago, but mobile phone analysis placed his handset near the McCanns’ apartment on the night Madeleine disappeared.

There have also been concerns Scotland Yard’s Operation Grange investigation has been caught up in red tape.

British police have to send international letters of request to Portugal via the Crown Prosecution Service each time they want officers to carry out investigative work on their behalf.

Last night the source close to the McCanns said: “Kate and Gerry hope, for the sake of Madeleine, the two countries’ forces can work together in a joint investigation.”

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe has also called for senior detectives from both countries to conduct a single inquiry.

Last night the McCanns’ spokesman said: “Kate and Gerry remain very pleased with the work Scotland Yard continue to do in the search for Madeleine.”

I hope they resolve this soon..

It is the same story. IMO the PJ wants to pursue these requests and they want to do it soon but it is the higher level politics and PR that is stopping them..
