A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl who has gone missing at a wedding in France may have been bundled into a car by kidnappers, police fear.

Officers fear a criminal act because sniffer dogs found Maelysí scent in the hall and out into the car park Ė but it ended there.

Isn't that what happened with Madeleine McCann?  Scent trail ended at car park.

It's not looking good right now for this beautiful little girl. The best hope is that her disappearance is as a result of a custody dispute.
Possibly the scent trail was from her arrival at the wedding rather than departure. I read somewhere that the caretaker's house has been searched.

Update 14.32 today

Officers searching for a nine-year-old girl, who vanished at a family wedding, have found a hair clip and a balloon in a forest close to where she was last seen.

Police have are now hunting through caves, abandoned buildings and even rubbish bins in a desperate attempt to locate the girl.

A man has been detained by French police investigating the disappearance of a nine-year-old girl at a wedding party in the eastern region of IsŤre early on Sunday, reports say.
The 34-year-old was a wedding guest, the Dauphinť Libťrť newspaper quoted a prosecutor as saying.
He had previously given an inconsistent account of his whereabouts.
MaŽlys de Araujo was last seen at 03:00 (01:00 GMT) in a children's area at a hall in Pont-de-Beauvoisin.
The arrested man was known to police and his home was being searched, BFMTV reported.
MaŽlys had gone to the wedding with her parents and elder sister as well as other members of her family. The DJ raised the alarm when she was reported missing and the 180 guests tried to find her before police were called and a search began.
Local police, search and rescue teams, divers and cavers have been searching the heavily-wooded area but have so far failed to find a trace of her.
Sniffer dogs lost the scent from MaŽlys's cuddly toy in a car park outside the wedding venue, AFP reported, suggesting that she could have been taken away by car.
Police have interviewed many of the wedding guests as well as people who were attending two other events nearby.
The search was continuing in driving rain on Thursday but a policeman told French TV that the prospect of finding anything was becoming less and less likely.

There is also a report in the Independent which says the detained man was not a wedding guest. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/maelys-de-araujo-mssing-girl-wedding-kidnapped-man-arrested-french-police-investigation-a7921636.html

According to a recent French report, the 34-year-old man being held for questioning is a relative of the father of the child who has previous convictions for petty crime.  It seems he arrived late to the wedding party and left around the time the child disappeared.

Detido segundo suspeito do desaparecimento de menina lusodescendente

First suspect should also be detained for longer

A second suspect was implicated in the disappearance of the 9-year-old lusceptible girl in France. This Friday, the French court also increased the detention period of the first suspect in prison, a 34-year-old man who was at the wedding where MaŽlys de Araķjo was last seen.

According to Le Figaro , the second man in custody is also 34 years old. The first man arrested, who was arrested Thursday, is one of the groom's wedding guests.
Bourgoin-Jallieu prosecutor Dietlind Baudoin said on Thursday police were trying to clarify the whereabouts of the 34-year-old guest, who left the wedding festivities by the time the child disappeared.

The case is in the hands of the Grenoble investigations department, supported by the Tour-du-Pin brigade and the Pont-de-Beauvoisin territorial brigade.

According to a source from the Secretariat of State for the Communities, the case of MaŽlys de Araķjo, who is French-speaking and has only French nationality, is being accompanied by the Portuguese consulate in Lyon, who has already spoken with the family to offer the necessary support.

I'm hoping for a custody dispute ... nothing that has been found so far indicates she has been harmed but the longer she is missing the worse I feel about it.
I hope she is found very soon.
