Peer pressure could have had an impact. The others were happy to leave the kids, well one had a baby monitor and another seemed to spend more time in he apartment. The desire not to miss out on a friends night out can be very strong.

As to the bike, I don't see your point. Doesn't Boris Johnson ride a bike to work too ?

The McCann's made an error of judgement,  for which they have been investigated.   Madeleine disappeared because someone took her,   and that is something the McCann's could never have predicted.

Most parents are 'not there' when their child disappears.  They can be taken in seconds.

Some person(s) removed her from the apartment.

Cause, UNDETERMINED.

Don't lose sight of that.

As to predictions, the mccanns thought that socializing was far more important than looking after their children, and their safety.

The apartment was locked every time they went out in the daytime, including during the day on 3rd May. How strange to lock it when there was no-one in, but leave it unlocked when vulnerable infants were in there alone.

Apparently most  burglaries were durng the day when hoidaymakers were out...still you dnt leave your three  toddlers alone in an unlocked apartment do you?
