Back to the reason why people support Trump (which I don't , by the way), I think that a lot of people are just fed up , just as a lot of those who support Brexit are fed up with the way things are in this country, and they want drastic change.  For the same reasons, Jeremy Corbyn has lots of support, so does Nigel Farage, Marine Le Pen, and others.

I think people are fed up with "middle of the road" politicians who don't make drastic changes.

Some people don't like the fact that we have lots of immigrants.

Some bemoan the lack of jobs, because a lot of our unskilled and manufacturing jobs have gone.  I remember when one could leave school at age 15 or 16, go into a job for life, and work one's way up. Not so easy any more.

Some are angry because they can't afford to buy a home.

Some are sick to death of the NHS getting worse and worse, etc.

I find it odd that we live in one of the richest countries in the world, yet we are always being told that the government has no money, that councils have no money, etc.  I think all the trouble started in the 1980s, when they started privatising everything. A few people now have money, most people don't, and they are reliant on the "state".

I don't know what it is like in the US, but , if it is like here, then I am not that surprised that people voted for Trump. They think he will change things, not just talk about it. Personally, I think he is bad news. I didn't want Brexit either, but still----------

The silent majority have been steadily trampled over by the establishment in both the UK and the USA and they are simply fed up with it.  People perceived the EU taking over their lives to an even greater extent and saw the waste while food banks continue to appear in every town in the UK.  Traditional Labour supporters could see that they were being failed by their elected representatives so when the opportunity came they took it and voted for Brexit.

Same in the USA.  Workers could see their pay and living standards being eroded year on year with the elitists on Capitol Hill not giving a damn.  Trump milked this for all it was worth and turned the populous voted to his own advantage.  Now the same thing is happening in Europe with the people of Italy revolting in the very same way.  This trickle could become a raging torrent by the end of next year and that frightens the EU more than anything.

You all kill me at times.  There is nothing new going on.  The People all just got thoroughly fed up.

PS.  France is fine.  The Euro is fine.  Nothing changes in my life except for exchange rates due to the falling or rising Pound.  Mostly falling these days.  The Pound is a joke, along with my Basic State Pension.

It went back up 6 cents a few weeks ago Eleanor from €1.11 to €1.17 which can only be good news?

It is indeed.  I will only be down by about 50 Euros this month.  That is a lot of money on a basic State Pension of approx  520 Pounds a month

No Winter Fuel Allowance, and the temperature in my house is around 12 degrees, with one very small heater, as I dare not risk a large electricity bill at the end of Winter.

if this helps.................

“Black guys counting my money! I hate it”

Next in the Trump record on race came a 1991 book by John O’Donnell, who had been president of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. O’Donnell quoted Trump saying,“ Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kind of people I want counting my money are short guys wearing yarmulkes… Those are the only kind of people I want counting my money. Nobody else…Besides that, I tell you something else. I think that’s guy’s lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks.”

and there is so much more...................

Sounds like an episode of Family Guy.
