There is nothing in the files which indicates if any of the information which was given to her was passed either to Leicestershire constabulary to be passed on to the PJ or to the PJ direct.

Did anyone speak to her at the time?
Did she keep a record?

It is possible that SY want to interview her, solely as a witness, if she was at one time in possession of statements made to her.  Or even just to clarify if anyone did come to her stall to make a statement or not.

I don’t think she will be a witness.

It is perfectly possible that the ten to be interviewed will be to enable SY to tie up loose ends or to clarify a situation.
It is a pity what are probably routine interviews which would probably have taken place in a front room in Britain, are by necessity taking place in the full glare of the media spotlight.

I think SY have a goal in sight and these interviews are just milestones on the way to building a case.

I just corrected my post. She was interviewed, but mainly about Robert.

Madeleine McCann: Scotland Yard cuts number of detectives working on the case

Irish Mirror
Nov 05, 2014
By Tom Pettifor, Gerard Couzins

The force has withdrawn six officers from the Algarve, suggesting that British police have begun scaling back the search after spending £7.3million.

Missing: Madeleine disappeared seven-and-a-half years ago

Scotland Yard has scaled back the number of detectives working on the hunt for Madeleine McCann.

The force has removed six officers despite enquiries in Portugal intensifying - with the team making an average of over a flight a week to the Algarve so far this year.

Two detective sergeants and four detective constables have been lost over the past year, new police figures reveal. It reduces the total number of detectives working on the case from 29 to 23.

At the same time six civilian staff have been brought in, meaning the overall number of British staff and police working on the case, codenamed Operation Grange, remains at 37.

Scotland Yard insists “staff numbers are open to change depending on the needs of the review”.

But the reduction could be seen as a sign that British police have begun scaling back the search after spending three and a half years and £7.3million examining the case.

The new figures were revealed after it was claimed the team are preparing to question a number of new suspects.

Newly installed Portuguese prosecutor Ines Sequeira paved the way for detectives to visit the Algarve by approving a fifth international letter of request last week.

Madeleine McCann police begin to search a patch of scrubland just outside of the small town as the search for clues enters a second week VIEW GALLERY

It was first thought the 10 people named in the request would be questioned as witnesses only.

But Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manha reported yesterday that some would be heard as “arguidos” or suspects because the Operation Grange detectives suspect they may have been involved in Madeleine’s disappearance.

They are said to include ex-workers at the Ocean Club holiday complex where the youngster vanished on May 3 2007 as well as locals living in the resort of Praia da Luz.

And the new list drawn up by British detectives as part of their painstaking investigation is thought to include British as well as Portuguese nationals.

None of the people on the list - who are due to receive police summons in the next few days to attend interviews at Faro’s PJ police station - have been questioned before by British officers, it is claimed.

Correio da Manha reported: “The majority are going to be heard as witnesses, but some will be made arguidos before the questioning takes place.

“They are all going to be questioned formally for the first time since the public prosecutor gave the green light for the quizzes to take place.”

It added: “There are around 10 people on the list, British and Portuguese nationals.

“Among the new Scotland Yard suspects are ex-Ocean Club workers and Praia da Luz residents.

“They’re people the British investigators suspect were involved in Madeleine’s disappearance.”

The interviews, the first since four suspects and 11 witnesses were questioned at the start of July, are due to take place before the end of the month.

British police are now in the process of formally asking for permission to sit in on the interviews, which will be led by Portuguese officers who will ask questions on their behalf.

The Operation Grange team last visited Portugal three weeks ago.

A small team including DCI Andy Redwood, who is heading Operation Grange, met Policia Judiciaria bosses in Faro for an update meeting before travelling to the university city of Coimbra a five hour drive north to visit a lab where many of the DNA samples collected after Madeleine’s disappearance are held.

Madeleine was three when she vanished from the family’s holiday apartment.

Yep, forensics, Lawyers and linguists.  Any others?

I think they have cracked it.

But it might take time to get to the next stage .... we must be patient

OMO, of course, but signs appear to be there

And IMO the extradition of a man from Gozo was very important.

Correio da Manhã asks, "Is the Maddie case nearing its end?"

Maddie case with more interrogations and new arguidos

New prosecutor in Portimao authorized the steps requested by British police.

Correio da Manhã
by Rui Gomes Pando
5 Nov 2014

Some of the people who will be interviewed by the Judicial Police (PJ) soon at the request of British police investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann will be heard as 'arguidos' or official suspects, reports the CM. New steps have been authorized by the new attorney from the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) of Portimão, Agnes Sequeira, and include the fifth rogatory letter sent by the British authorities to Portugal.

The CM has found a list of about ten people and are both Portuguese and British. Most will be heard as witnesses but some have been made defendants before the interrogation takes place. They will all be formally interviewed having been given the green light by the first magistrate of the MP. The inquiries will be carried out by elements of the PJ in Faro, who are collaborating with the British authorities, and should happen by the end of this month. British investigatoirs will be able to suggest questions in advance, but still have to ask permission to attend the interrogations.

The CM found that among those suspected by Scotland Yard are former employees of the Ocean Club, a place where the child disappeared in May 2007, and residents of Praia da Luz, Lagos. British investigators suspect these people of involvement in the disappearance of Maddie, following the theory that the child was abducted during a failed robbery.

These new suspects will be made arguidos only in respect of the suit filed in the UK and will join - to the four arguidos already questioned in June, also in the context of a request for judicial cooperation. At the time, eleven special witnesses were also heard.

New persons of interest to be quizzed in Madeleine McCann investigation

by Carrie-Marie Bratley, in News · 06-11-2014 12:52:00 · 0 Comments

Scotland Yard detectives could return to Portugal before the end of this month to sit in on the questioning of several new persons of interest as part of the investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, after the incumbent Portimão Prosecutor authorised a fifth international Letter of Request.

A source close to the case told The Portugal News on Wednesday that a string of new persons of interest are lined up for questioning, which is expected to take place in the PJ’s Faro headquarters during the latter half of this month.
According to reports in the national press as many as ten new individuals could be in line for questioning; some of them will be heard as witnesses while others will be questioned in the capacity of arguidos, or formal suspects.
The new persons of interest are not believed to include the same four suspects who were interrogated back in July, but could be connected to them.
A number of British nationals resident in Portugal are also said to be among them.
Operation Grange officers will be allowed to sit in on the questioning providing they ask for permission beforehand.
The development comes after the new Public Prosecutor in Portimão, Inês Sequeira, gave the green light to a fifth international Letter of Request received from British authorities in August.
British girl Madeleine McCann went missing from an apartment in the Ocean Club resort, Praia da Luz in May 2007, then aged three.

"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Madeleine McCann investigators questioning Britons as new official suspects over the girl's disappearance in Portugal

The Britons are among seven people due to be questioned as 'arguidos'

The seven suspects know the Praia da Luz resort where Madeleine, then aged three, vanished from on May 3 2007, it was reported.

Some are said to have criminal records, reports Portuguse newspaper.

Britons will be quizzed as new suspects over missing Madeleine McCann's disappearance, it was claimed today.

The British nationals are among a group of seven people due to be questioned as arguidos - a Portuguese legal term roughly translating as 'formal suspect' - leading Portuguese daily Jornal de Noticias reported.
Four more will be interviewed as witnesses towards the end of the month at a police station in Faro

The seven suspects know the Praia da Luz resort where Madeleine, then aged three, vanished from on May 3 2007, know each other and made phone calls the night she disappeared, Jornal de Noticias said.

Some are also said to have criminal records and others are ex-workers of the Ocean Club holiday resort where Madeleine, three at the time, was staying with her parents.

It is not known how many of the group of seven, which also includes Portuguese nationals, are British.
Neither was it clear last night if they continue to live in Praia da Luz or have now moved away from the town

The fact they are set to be questioned as arguidos show the Operation Grange officers probing Madeleine's disappearance are still focusing on the theory she was killed during a bungled break-in.

Three of the four suspects questioned at the start of July were quizzed because British police suspected they were involved in a burglary at apartment 5A where Madeleine was sleeping with her twin siblings Sean and Amelie, now nine.

At least one of the 11 people set to be quizzed later this month is thought to be a woman.

British police are now in the process of formally asking for permission to sit in on the interviews, which will be led by Portuguese officers who will ask questions on their behalf. The Operation Grange team last visited Portugal a month ago.

A small team of three officers including DCI Andy Redwood met Policia Judiciaria bosses in Faro for an update meeting before travelling to the university city of Coimbra a five hour drive north to visit a lab where many of the DNA samples collected after Madeleine's disappearance are held.

British police told bosses at Portugal's Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences they wanted to retest some of the samples to try to crack the mystery of Madeleine's disappearance.

They are yet to send a sixth international letter of request which mother-of-four Mrs Sequeira will have to authorise before Met Police forensics experts are allowed access to the lab or given permission to take samples to Britain to analyse them.

The forensic material includes hairs and pieces of the curtains that hung in apartment 5A.
It emerged late last month nearly 100 strands of hair tested during the original Madeleine McCann investigation were never DNA-matched.

The Operation Grange inquiry is running in parallel with a new Portuguese probe, reopened in May more than five years after being shelved.

Scotland Yard detectives dug up waste ground and inspected sewers in Praia da Luz in June in a grim search for her body.

One of the suspects questioned in July was a former Ocean Club worker and another a 51-year-old schizophrenic drug addict. They both denied any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance.

Portuguese police believe Madeleine was snatched by a foreigner no longer living in Portugal.

However they have still not formally ruled out the involvement of junkie burglar Euclides Monteiro, whose widow they questioned last year, despite the fact DNA tests have put him in the clear.

Last month it emerged the cost of the British police search for Madeleine will soon top £10million double the original amount estimated by the Home Office when the force was called in by David Cameron in 2011.
The Home Office has defending the rising cost of the probe, insisting: 'The Government believes it is right that it does all it can to support the search for Madeleine McCann.'
