Under the photo of the mccanns.

'Even though Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry, pictured, live in Leicestershire, Scotland Yard was handed the investigation because of its expertise in investigating complex murder cases'

'Police chiefs ‘ring-fenced’ the inquiry to prevent officers working on other case, even though the force has been forced to make £600million in cuts over four years.'

Why would "sceptics" want the investigation to close just when they're on the verge of catching the monkey after all these years?!

Exactly - I thought it was their firm belief that the clock was ticking and at some stage in the investigation the police would pounce on the McCanns and arrest them.

In that case - one would think they would be calling for the investigation to continue at all costs  - not close down.

The notion that innocence prevails over guilt – when there is no evidence to the contrary – is what separates civilization from barbarism.    Unfortunately, there are remains of barbarism among us.    Until very recently, it headed the PJ in Portimão. I hope he was the last one.

Could the more extreme in each camp handle the emotional shock of having nothing to post or name call about if it closed ? I suppose they would just decamp to wherever they could carry on doing the same sort of thing. Or maybe carry on posting about dogs ; that seems to have a lot legs left in it  8(>((

According to whom?

Why don't you ask the writer of the article and the editor of the Mail ?

If the focus of the current investigation was was Madeleine McCann's parents and friends the 'truth seekers' would be apoplectic at any suggestion of closure.
In fact they would probably consult Ms Baulch (who I understand has time on her hands since PJGA took over her last appeal fund) about starting a GoFundMe appeal to finance it.

Might it be that "Justice for Madeleine" is not really as important as it has been made out to be ... particularly as the route to "Justice" appears to be directed firmly towards abductors who are strangers to her and her family??

The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

Why are the Sun and the DM rehashing a story from March of this year?

Well spotted.

Perhaps the question you should be asking is, why did it take them as long as 6 whole months to rehash the story? ...

Well, the first time it was in the run-up to elections in May... so wait a few months and run it again.

Didn't it also coincide with the Police Federation seeking to highlight cuts affecting services and negotiations for remuneration on behalf of their members?

That seems to have been the gist the last time (IMO). Perhaps the negotiations haven't advanced as hoped for post-election?
