And the more fuss that is made about it, the more people will attempt to read it - just like this celebrity injunction farce.

Two books come to mind immediately. Lady Chatterley's Lover and The Spycatcher. Both sold very well following attempts to ban them in the UK.

Censorship makes people curious. Most people wouldn't have heard of Amaral's book if the Mccanns had ignored it.

Sorry if this has been posted already but it is reported that the McCanns have threatened anyone who sell the book in the UK with legal action.
Brietta posted on 10/04/2022 “But whether or not that is the reason behind the delay I am certain that Brueckner's trial is going to take place.”

Let’s count the months, shall we?

There was no need for any official bod to.

The McCanns were accused (but not charged) by the Portuguese arguido system then the status was dropped after a year-long investigation adduced no evidence against them.

Same for Robert Murat.

Not the same as being viewed as innocent, and yes, the case "requires" an official bod to state as much before you can alledge that they have been declared so

Then he won't have a problem finding a publisher to publish it and a bookseller to stock it.
He might not be bothered, he has won his case, thats more important than making money

The evidence of this latest ruling in Portugal would seem to suggest that's true there; certainly not in England, and I very much doubt, in Scotland.

So in the uk you can say somethng that is true and it be called libel? How bizarre

Absolutely.

How else would they find their daughter ..

They could of course try physically searching.

Now there is a novelty.

Not the same as being viewed as innocent

Entirely the same as being viewed as innocent; indeed, being innocent.

Then Amaral wrote a book accusing the McCanns of heinous crimes; not quite murder, but heinous crimes, the McCaanns (successfully) sued him for libel and now the Portuguese courts have decided he was, after all, entitled to make baseless accusations against the McCanns.

Most strange ....

I believe everything. And l believe nothing.
I suspect everyone. And l suspect no one.
I gather the facts, examine the clues... and before   you know it, the case is solved!"

Or maybe not -

What are the mccanns innocent of exactly ?

The crime unknown, if any.

No evidence that could stand up in court of what happened to Madeleine.

The mccanns remain in limbo.

What's news about that?

Always been the case, and will remain the case even if Portuguese courts decide irrevocably that Amaral's baseless accusations are not libel in Portugal
