The timing of this incident does not quite fit with Karen's observations or does it?  This incident Barcelona was in the early hours of May 7th.    Maybe it does if Karen saw her later in the day on the 7th.  Could you get from Barcelona to Camping Cabopino in that time?  Karen Sisson said in a letter to the McCanns in 2008 "Whilst at the campsite I passed a young girl both on Sunday 6th May and Monday 7th May who looked remarkably like Madeleine"

"Detectives were searching for this Victoria Beckham lookalike after asking a Brit tourist: "Have you got her? Have you got the child".

The suspect, who spoke with an Australian accent, was reportedly waiting impatiently outside a bar in Barcelona.

It happened in the city's marine area, three days after Maddie vanished.

The woman  was then spotted having a heated conversation with a local man in what appeared to be fluent Spanish.

She was last seen walking towards a hospital and more distant ferry and cruise ship terminals.

Mystery woman sought over missing Maddie
Paola Totaro Europe Correspondent and Dylan Welch
A SLIGHT woman with short brown hair, an Australian or Kiwi accent and a resemblance to the pop star Victoria Beckham, is the focus of a renewed global hunt for Madeleine McCann, the little girl who went missing from a Portuguese holiday resort two years ago.

The search, which has cost British police close to $1.5 million, has shifted suddenly to Australia following new information provided to investigators by two British men.

It is understood that the woman they are looking for spoke to the men outside a bar near a Barcelona marina well after midnight on May 7, about three days after Madeleine went missing from a holiday apartment in the seaside resort of Praia da Luz.

The popular marina, about half a day's drive away from the Praia de Luz resort, is frequented by tourists as well as locals and the woman was noticed because she appeared nervy and had been pacing as if waiting for somebody.

The man she talked to described her as between 30 and 35, slim, about 5ft 2in and with short brown hair.

She was wearing expensive looking blue jeans and a jersey top, possibly pastel-coloured.

The incident sparked fears she had been snatched to order and an e-fit of the suspect was released.

Despite a massive investigation by Portuguese and British police and huge publicity worldwide, she was never found." https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/3408355/chilling-e-fits-of-suspects-wanted-in-the-hunt-for-madeleine-mccann-over-the-10-years-since-she-vanished/

McCann suspect asked for 'daughter'
Geesche Jacobsen
AN AUSTRALIAN woman sought over the missing British child Madeleine McCann approached a man and asked: ''Are you here to deliver my new daughter?'' London newspapers reported yesterday.

The conversation is said to have taken place at a bar in the Port Olimpic Marina area of Barcelona, Spain, three days after the three-year-old girl vanished in Portugal more than two years ago.

On Thursday the McCann family made public a sketch and description of a woman with an Australian, or possibly New Zealand, accent who also spoke excellent Spanish and some Catalan. The woman was described as looking like Victoria Beckham.

According to the British newspapers, the woman, who apparently thought the man was a courier, asked him: ''Have you got my daughter?''"  http://www.smh.com.au/national/mccann-suspect-asked-for-daughter-20090807-ed7z.html

How come it took more than 2 years for that information to surface?  6 August 2009  not 6 August 2007!  The dates could have easily been forgotten.  To get all the way to Barcelona by the morning of the 6th the abductors would have had to fly! from Faro Airport IMO.  It is a heck of a long way to drive.
I recall that the alert to the airport never got through on the night of the 3rd.

PdL to Faro airport is an hour drive.    It closes at 11:00 PM so it seems impossible to catch a flight that night but first thing in the morning is possible.  Peter Smith was flying out next morning.

I think Madeleine went in the opposite direction arriving at Porto at about noon time on May 4th.  Several sighting verify the probability that she went that way.  For some reason the PJ never picked up on them or even properly checked them out, it seems

Well how long would it take for a launch to go from Porto starting at noon if its destination was Barcelona?  Could it be there on the 5th? or early hours of the 6th?

Most people think the Victoria Beckham lookalike (VBL) was there to pick up a girl to take on board a luxury craft, but it could have been that Madeleine was dropped off by a craft, and she VBL was there to pick her up.  "Have you got my new daughter?"  She obviously doesn't know who she is supposed to meet IMO for that is a weird question to ask a stranger?  But she must have been expecting to met an English speaking person as the question was in English rather than Spanish or Catalan, but she was heard to speak in those other languages as well.

I'd better have a look and see where Porto is.  I'm not familiar with the region.
Is it in Portugal?  Found it and I see you are in the opposite direction. Approx 500 km to the North of PDL.

Why would the McCann camp link this Victoria Beckham lookalike to the McCann case?
