Well then I don't understand why this threat was brought up in the libel trial

The implication was that Amaral's book had  provoked it   ... but what  evidence is there to support that   ?

They know very well Mr Amaral's book was tame compared to what a great many on the forums were discussing because of the action they took against T Bennett - his booklet was a lot more extreme.

It was just twits (in this instance just one I think) on a forum, who'd doubtless struggle to kidnap a bottle of milk.
Lol !
If the chat existed it was surely highly sarcastic ! Can you imagine yourself kidnapping a 4 yrs old, the lot of trouble it would be !

Extremely unlikely and the mccanns have no way on this earth to prove this unless the alledged poster said so

Sad barrel scrapers for a million quid

See my post no 11 on this thread

who actually said it was a poster ? the mccanns got hate mail and threats to kill them long or kidnap  before amarol's comic.

She felt their version of events was now under dire scrutiny in the UK following the publication of Goncalo's book.
A book saying Madeleine accidentally died and her body was disposed of would embarrass either a person deeply related to Madeleine who witnessed this or a totally innocent person related to Madeleine. The problem is to discriminate between the two..

If people found dead by hanging, water, etc. had been able to say "should I take my life ?", they wouldn't have died this way.

how rude!!
you might be still in your little cotton socks honey but im certainly not ..now trot off to bed its way past your bed time ta ta

So no joy on your post then?  ie educating  yourself by READING and finding it WAS said it was an internet poster? or dont you know WHERE to read? Oh well people in denial are funny

From the telegraph but also other papers havr printed similar, sigh

Michael Wright monitored internet activity after Madeleine was abducted from a holiday apartment in Portugal and said forums exploded after Goncalo Amaral, a former policeman and head of the investigation, published his book The Truth of the Lie.
He told the court: “There were several instances of inciting forum members to abduct one of the twins as they felt they could throw some light on what had happened. On the ‘The 3 Arguidos’ forum there was a thread of great length where one member was suggesting that someone should abduct Sean or Amelie as they would be able to confirm Mr Amaral’s theory.”

Never mind  his  testimony is utter bollocks anyway

Think a little deeper Lyall.  What's it got to do with any book?

It's relevant to the book because the book mentions their online critics, as they have also done numerous times in interviews. Yet neither in the book, or in those interviews, has this 'plot' ever been mentioned previously.

This suggests it wasn't actually taken seriously at the time.

Did that 8)-))) Even if we ever agree on anything to do with the disappearance, we'll never agree on the integrity of Madeleine's parents.

Have you ever considered that at that time it might have been too distressing to talk about?

You are such insensitive people.  You dismay me.

If the matter was reported to the police then we can safely assume that the police took action and there was resolution

Did Michael Wright say anything about that  ?  ...  did he say what the police concluded regarding the threat made online  ?

To expand on that Lyall, neither in Kate's book nor at Leveson was the kidnap threat mentioned either. Strange eh !
Brietta posted on 10/04/2022 “But whether or not that is the reason behind the delay I am certain that Brueckner's trial is going to take place.”

Let’s count the months, shall we?

He was asked if the guilty one was sued and said he didn't know... which certainly reveals how seriously they took the threat.
