Theresa May SLAPS DOWN Tony Blair as he tries to rally Remain 'insurgency' against Brexit

DOWNING STREET today slapped down ex-prime minister Tony Blair after he called on Remain “insurgents” to push for a second EU referendum.

The former Labour leader argued the British people must be able to “change our minds” despite a majority voting for Brexit on June 23.

Long-time europhile Mr Blair suggested Britain’s departure from the EU could be blocked “either through parliament, or through an election, possibly through another referendum”.

He claimed recent talks with French president Francois Hollande had convinced him the “catastrophe” of Brexit would lead to “very, very tough” negotiations with the Brussels-based bloc.

But Downing Street dismissed Mr Blair’s appeal for a Brexit rethink and insisted there would be no second running of the historic EU referendum.

Theresa May slapped down Tony Blair's bid for a second EU referendum.

A Number 10 spokesman also brushed off concerns Mr Blair appeared to have been plotting with Mr Hollande.

He said: “Tony Blair is entitled to put his views to whom he so chooses.

"But what's important is the PM has been absolutely clear - the British people have spoken, we are listening, we're going to leave the European Union.

"And not only has the PM been clear here but she's also been clear when she's met European leaders.

"There will be no second referendum, Britain is leaving the EU."

Prime Minister Theresa May has repeatedly promised to lead Britain out of the EU, introduce controls on EU freedom of movement and end the meddling of EU judges on British laws.

Despite more than 17million voters backing Brexit, Mr Blair has insisted he is not trying to ignore the will of the British people.

He suggested as Brexit negotiations take place and “facts” come to light the British public’s wishes could “shift”.

Earlier this month, Mr Blair hinted he could return to UK politics following his exile since quitting Downing Street.

He said his future role was an “open question” as he despaired at the current state of the Labour Party under Jeremy Corbyn and the “huge reaction against the politics I represent”.

In September, Mr Blair announced he was winding down his controversial business consultancy, which had seen him criticised for advising foreign dictators.

He was slated by the recent Chilcot Report into his decision to drag Britain into the Iraq War.

Atta girl:
Blair is yesterday's man at two removes and a complete irrelevance on today's political stage.
He should feel the hand of "surplus to requirements" on his shoulder.
Apart from that Mrs Lincoln how did you like the play?

What is abundantly clear, is that May doesn't have a clue and she has enough troubles controlling her cabinet, let alone the P.O.S. Blair.
The McCanns were solely responsible for their childcare arrangements and there is no one else to blame.

S and S, two more amateurs making money from a disappeared child, and clearly without a clue.

Eventually she will have to break from cover, then we shall see.
I think she has a game plan that is a bit more than just counterpunching.
In the immortal words of Col. John T. Hall "(s)he is up to something; I just haven't worked out what it is yet".
Apart from that Mrs Lincoln how did you like the play?

I will go with that, she wouldn't have taken the job if she wasn't sure of pulling it off.  If anyone is to blame for the uncertainty it is the dissenters like Sturgeon and Blair who want endless referendums until they get the result they want.  To steal a Kate McCann phrase... what a bunch of fcuking tossers!
De troothe has the annoying habit of coming to the surface just when you least expect it!!

...and that is what Brexit is,

Pure BS. 8)--))

Tell me Angelo, in what way do you feel less British, having been in the EU ?

As a reminder, in the past, EU laws have to be discussed and incorporated into UK Law.
