A couple whose baby son drowned in the bath while they drank beer are facing jail after being found guilty of manslaughter.

Wayne Dale, 44, and partner Lisa Passey, 28, left 13-month-old son Kian Dale in a bath seat while they entertained friends downstairs.

The couple burned a CD of UB40 for a guest while listening to music, drinking beer and smoking cigarettes at their home in Tenbury Wells, Worcs.

Meanwhile, the tot was left on his own after the couple had put him in a baby seat at 5.30pm on September 26, 2015.

When Passey returned 13 minutes later to check on the child she found her son was lifeless in the bath.

A jury of seven men and five women found the couple guilty of gross negligence manslaughter after a two-week trial at Worcester Crown Court.

Judge Robert Juckes, QC, bailed Dale and Passey, who have since split up, and ordered them to return to court for sentencing on April 25.

The maximum sentence is life in prison.

Giving evidence last week, Passey told jurors it was a 'regular occurrence' to leave little Kian alone in the bath, but 'only for a few minutes'

During the trial, the court Dale burned a CD for Passey's friend Jeanette Morgan. Evidence showed his laptop had been in use between 5.33pm and 5.46pm

Now this case shows beyond a shadow of a doubt that leaving small children by themselves, for a length of time beyond a few minutes is irredeemably stupid.

The parents in this case have been convicted of manslaughter, awaiting sentence.

Indeed and there  is also a secondary drowning condition. after you leave the water.

Well thats a shame they were convicted after a real tragedy, but wait...

"left 13-month-old son Kian Dale in a bath seat...."  What is the purpose of a bath seat?

It should be to stop a child rolling over or sliding under the water if they can't support themselves. Babies can drown in very shallow water.

So you should be able to leave the child in one of those for a minute or so but not a half hour is that the case?

I have no idea I have just heard about them recently. I think people use them to take babies to the swimming pool.

Half an hour...being convicted and yet being left alone every night crying for mummy and daddy  is OK.

Some kids are harder to settle than others.

When this can happen "The six-year-old‘s parents put her to bed around 11pm on 20 April, 2012, but found she had vanished from her room when they went to check on her the following morning", it makes little difference if you are at home with your kids  asleep or out and checking regularly.

Reading on "And a bedroom window that was closed the night before was found open the following morning, while the window’s damaged screen was found on the ground nearby, ABC15 reported."  So windows can be involved in abductions.
