The Tories back in Scotland...What really?
« on: June 11, 2017, 01:52:05 PM »
Well that was a turn up for the books. Two major SNP players losing their seats. In fact the much hated Tories (Thanks to the poll tax) are back. It was a brilliant campaign lead by Ruth Davidson- she took no prisoners.

It was a campaign fought by nikki on our 'alledged demand' for Independance. Her blinkered vision and self belief in her own PR, that she lost control of the truth, and that truth is: We want to remain part of the UK, we want a curb on immigration- we want brexit. The English from old are not our enemy , however , home grown terrorist are certainly our enemy and need to be dealt with.

Looks like the 'power' women in  politics have let us all down, badly!  Nikki, Diane, Teresa...does that make me sexist- who cares!

It does seem somewhat sureal that it was the Scots who helped May in some small way. Irony ,oh boy!

Does anyone else agree that the election was too self centered around certain people and not policies to be scrutinised?

Four major players lost their seat.  As well as Salmond and Robertson, the SNP's international spokesperson Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh lost her seat and also their chief whip Alex Weir.  Way to go!   8@??)(

And yes, the Tories are not only back in Scotland, but without the Scottish vote Mrs May could never hope to form a government.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.
Indeed, the truth never changes with the passage of time.

Seems she prefers to deal with the Christian fundamentalists of the DUP.

May of course lied, in saying there was a deal the other day.

The DUP are the majority party in Northeren Ireland, if the people they represent want local independance with local issues being addressed then that is their business. It is not for us who do not live there or share their beliefs no matter how we disagree with them, should force them to comply to 'our; way of thinking. we don't do it with the asylum seekers, or immigration migrants from outside the EU, so why pick on people who have fought along side us during two world wars.

It is notable that Labour are quite happy to mix and mingle with terrorist in southern Ireland, to support a christian fundamentalist church run by a foreigner.

Tis best not to take sides when chosing which killers to support.

Quatar and the Saudis are the latest perpertrators of fundmenalism to post their trash here- lets here it for the terrorists.... all together now...

They need to grow up like Corbyn. He refused to criticise his rebels and confirmed he would continue to reach out and be inclusive.

Heseltine has now declared Corbyn a PM in waiting, as the Tories tear themselves apart.

Not quite sure that the "Tories are back in Scotland"
They have certainly gained more members of the Westminster government but they only gained 28.6% of the Scottish vote.
Not too sure that Ruth will be happy with the DUP alliance.
A Westminster election will always be different from our local elections or a Holyrood election.
Voters will be  deciding on whom they wish to see in power in Westminster.
Another factor to consider is that under eighteens cannot vote in the Westminster election but can do so in the local elections and the Scottish government election.
The SNP vote is particularly strong in the younger age groups.
So yes there is still a strong demand for independence and as Scotland voted 62% to remain in Europe we  are still being dragged out of Europe against our desired will.

Like it or lump it the state we live in is The United Kingdom of Great Britain [England, Wales and Scotland] and Notheren Ireland. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland were in the EU by virtue of being of a constituent member of the UK not through some separate national agreement with the EU.
The devolved assemblies are just that and only have such powers bestowed by the Central Government but the Central Government holds all the powers. That's Devolution for you. Maybe what you really wanted was Federalism?
The efforts of Gina Miller saw the courts decree that the UK Government runs the show negotiating leaving the EU and there no "right" for members of devolved assemblies having a shout.
The SNP have consistently blown hot and cold over membership of the EU, that's forty plus years, and seem to use it as a device by which they have  “an eye to the main chance of political opportunities” that
a)existed in the UK and
b)presently  in Scotland, rather than in relation to opportunities offered by membership of the EU.
