More deliberate obfuscation, delay and psychobabble introduced by Pistorius'  defence team... when will this ridiculous courtroom farce end and Reeva Steenkamp get justice! 8()(((@# We've been over this nonsense months ago.  No wonder Gerry Nel is losing patience!

That testimony by his psychologist was an absolute farce, she stuttered and stammered every time Nel put an awkward question to her about Pistorius.  "He has lost everything"  ffs what about Reeva????

Trauma specialist and psychologist Dr Löre Hartzenberg (centre in red) has counselled Oscar Pistorius since the killing.

My own view is he intended to kill her.  She went into the toilet locking the door to get away from him.  For all we know he used the cricket bat to try to get to her before he shot her.

Anything less than a custodial sentence will be a travesty of justice.

Having watched the whole trial & listened to Oscars ridiculous story, I am 100% certain the guy is nothing other than a disgusting lying murderer.

There has already been one huge MOJ in him not being found guilty of murder.

If he gets away without a long custodial sentence it will be like rubbing extra salt into the families wounds & pissing on them at the same time.

Orrible lying b*stard.

Here, here Spammy! The defense made me sick today putting up some do gooder social worker saying the killer should get 3 years 'house arrest' .... not that that would restrict him from return to athletics  which he has stated he wants to do! Ridiculous! The s..mbag can't even wear an ankle bracelet!

I do now fear that pathetic judge is going to let him 'walk'!

This guy should not be returning to athletics, he should be festering inside a prison cell for a minimum 15 of a 25 stretch, imo.

I think you might be right though, she is going to let him 'walk'.

South Africa is in a terrible state thanks to the useless ANC and riddled with corruption!

I learned today that that fycking judge relaxed OP's bail conditions AFTER she found him guilty of culpable homicide compared to before he was convicted! Unbelievably I am now convinced he won't serve a day in prison for deliberately slaughtering his girlfried!

I do hope Nell appeals! You can't even say the defense did a great job getting him off. In my opinion they have been incoherent and their so called 'experts' were quite pathetic. Gerrie Nell tore them all apart and made Oscar look exactly what he is; guilty as sin!

This case is a genuine MOJ!

TOTALLY 100 percent agree with you JOHN. I said the exact same thing to my husband even about the bat.

IF he shouted at the toilet why the hell didnt she just say ITS ME, ........... SILENCE.

I cant believe he got away with it, but then i can because he is a SA Star....a celebrity a bit like OJ was, but look what finally happened to him, justice was served.

I hope that justice is served in this case too. There is no justice for Reeva. RIP.

So the defense has already decided the sentence for Killer Pistorius; 3 years house arrest!

I feel sick for Reeva's poor family!

Exactly!  He intended to kill no matter who was in that toilet cubicle and in my book that is murder.  The judge has already made one serious mistake so lets hope she doesn't make a second.

House arrest?  Has anyone ever heard anything so f.....g ridiculous?

Allowing a week for pre sentencing hearings must be the greatest waste of time and resources ever.  Surely the judge will have heard enough about this guy to come to a qualified decision already?  Justice is blind alright!

I was a bit shocked about reading that!  Doesn't put them in a good light, especially as they now intend to pay it back when they felt all along that Pistorius had killed Reeva intentionally.  Maybe grieving about her affected their judgement.

Did you see the blonde cousin of Reeva looking dumbfounded when the news came out in court? Evidently the parents are no longer skint now and are paying all the money back to OP. That's because they have made so much money from media interviews and no doubt there will be a book deal! More money made upon the murder of their daughter!

That's just wrong imho; where is their self respect!

What was the money in respect of?  How was the monthly figure of £350 arrived at?  Was it used to fund the trial in any way?

They are making the excuse that Pistorius shouldn't go to jail because of the poor conditions but hey ho didn't the SA authorities give an assurance to the judge in the Shrien Dewani case about the very same thing before he was extradited. If it was good enough for Nelson Mandela I'm sure Pistorius would cope since after all he is a convicted killer isn't he??

Evidently the patents' legal reps approached the OP legal team telling them they were skint and that Reeva was the main bread winner for the family and they had expected Reeva to provide for them in old age!!!!!!

Now they are calling another offer from OP "blood money"! Such hypocrisy!

IF REEVA got up and just went to the loo and shut the door why lock it? Who locks a toilet door when they are with their partner married or not. I never have locked a toilet door only in a public one.

So anyway just say she locked the door and went for a pee....

SURELY when she heard her boyfriend outside the door screaming at the top of his lungs Get the f..k out of my house, get the f..k out of my house'."

WOULDNT she just shout back and say oh its me Oscar its me.....

NOW IF THEY WERE ARGUING and she ran into the toilet in fear if she heard Get the f..k out of my house, get the f..k out of my house'." She was hardly going to come out to face him was she.

I just dont get how he got away with it.

Now all this phaffing about over sentencing its stupid. Jeez.

Also, who gets up in the middle of the night, gets dressed into a tank top n shorts, takes their phone and locks themselves in the loo unless there's a major problem?
Why get dressed at all?
He's lying and is probably going to get off with it.

Very powerful testimony today from Kim Martin, Reeva's cousin. Another dignified, quality lady from that fine family. Hopefully her very emotional testimony will make it harder for that judge to give OP house arrest'. It will certainly make the outcry even louder if OP 'walks'!

Fingers crossed for good news on your birthday John!

I think it will be a travesty of justice, knew this would be the outcome from the beginning, he is a CELEBRITY, they can get away with everything as they bring money into the country.

If he does I hope the parents can do something anything to make this man pay for what he did.

I had great respect for Barry Roux up until I heard his pathetic crawling speech on behalf of Pistorius this morning.  He is totally wrong about the penalty, the sentence is nothing to do with punishment but everything to do with the deprivation of liberty.  Pistorius intended to kill, this was not an accident.

Gerrie Nel on the other hand has a point, a house arrest sentence is a farce considering what he did.

Nothing less than a custodial sentence will do!  His disability should not be a factor in sentencing him.

I thought Gerrie Nell started off with a great closing argument then half way through just lost his thread! He finished off like a damp squib and didn't have an answer ready when the judge asked how long the sentence should be! I expected Gerrie to be demanding a prison sentence and to close the case quoting the words of Kim Martin!

I really like Gerrie Nell but he should have done better today!

Glad to see the judge asking questions of the prisons official yesterday and "what sentence" today. It seems like she is actually considering prison for Oscar! I do hope so!

No idea really as I don't know how these things work.  Culpable homicide and negligently discharging a firearm.  The prosecution have called for 10 years so they must think the max for culpable homicide of 15 years is out of the question.  I cant recall the maximum sentence for the firearm offence - 5 years I think.  So out of a max of 20 I think Tim's 5 is a little on the low side.  I would go for 10 years max to 7.5 min for the two offences.

A five year sentence of which he might very well see a mere 10 months in custody followed by four years house arrest in his uncles palatial mansion just doesn't seem enough for what he did.  As usual the defence are attempting to preempt the parole authority by stating what could happen to him as fact.

Thanks but it's too short and I really hope the state appeals but doubt they will!. 5 years actual prison time would have been acceptable .... just .... but if he gets out in 10 months the sentence is a joke! At least he 'went down' rather than out the front door of the court.

Yes I was shocked when i read he would probably get only 10 months and the rest house arrest.

So we were both not far off I said he would walk and virtually this sentence is a walk in the park, he isnt even going to be in prison he will stay in the medical centre/ward hardly going to be doing hard labour is he.

Excellent .... the state in SA are appealing not only the sentance but the verdict too! This means OP and his MURDER stay in the spotlight and he can't sneak out under the radar in 10 months time! Plus there has to be a great possibility of the verdict being overturned for a murder conviction or the state wouldn't appeal!

I think this ends any chance of 'poor Oscar' being rehabilitated back into his spring running superstardom! Something that imo would have been sickening to watch! The Pistorius clan must be devastated by this excellent news!

I for one am glad the State has taken the decision to appeal the verdict and the sentence because I too believe the learned judge erred.  Pistorius intended to kill, he aimed and fired to kill and regardless of who the victim was, that is murder in my book.

I agree John. Everyone I know believes he deliberately shot to kill Reeva in a fit of anger but even if the court doesn't find that he certainly shot to kill someone who was no immediate threat to him! That ammo he had can easily kill if it only hits a limb because it's effects are so devastating and O.P. Knew that. It has to be murder!

Thank god the SA state isn't swallowing that ludicrous verdict!
