Agree with laissez-faire in principle, Enola, but at the same time there is not even the pretense of truth amongst this element of the press. For them to appeal to such values is disingenuous.

If we want a free press, then YES. They need to be allowed to print anything that is legal and be judged by heir readership.

Who is the arbiter of free? The press print want the editors and owners dictate near enough. I am not suggesting censorship merely taking the whole works with bushels of salt from the Grauniad down or up depending on ones view.

SY are not paying Portugal to assist them. Portuguese authorities have elected to reopen the case on their own terms, and to pay for it.

Not something done lightly.

That is, of course, your right. It is up to people to work out how to interpret questionable information. Ther is no arbiter of free, only of illegal.
