Participation in the competition had positive outcomes for the charity Missing People.  It raised some revenue and it raised a new public awareness.
There may be few or no fairy tale endings, but on the other hand there may be lost people out there whose families may at least be given the chance of finding out what might have happened to their loved ones.

Perhaps he doesn't want to be found? I prefer the Salvation Army who respect the privacy of the missing person.
