Probably on hold until it is seen if an appeal is going to go ahead.
What is happening about the outstanding legal bill for the latest appeal? Will that be on hold as well or will the legal fraternity demand payment ?

I don't think Costs in Portugal are quite as onerous as else where.

Any body got any information on this?

I have provided a link to the basis of the judgement, which is that Amaral can say anything he wants (to s/he who is willing, no harm can come).

That principle would, indeed, apply (under Portuguese law) if Amaral had not breached secrecy in assembling material for, and writing, his book -- before its release to the general public.

In writing his book (and preparing it for publication) Amaral breached judicial secrecy.

Therefore the principle does not apply.

Therefore Amaral should be held accountable for his lies.

No you haven't.

According to Monclair, the court costs are paid as the case continues.

any news on whether amarals assets are unfrozen...the silence is deafening...

I answered your query a few posts back. GA's assets will remain frozen until all appeals are exhausted.

So if there is no further appeal, Amaral is due a refund from the McCanns.

I wonder what the odds are on them shelling out?

Yes.  Bu how much?  Their Barrister notwithstanding.  She could be doing it for free for all I know.

I honestly don't think that they will refuse, if they lose.

I'm clearly stating facts you don't understand.

Nothing to be done about that ...

It would be a bad move if they didn't.

The McCanns did not get any of GA's money. It was kept by the court while waiting for the resolution of the case.

They would have no choice.

Otherwise they could be pursued through the court system and would have to abide by what the 3 judges said.
