Will this current chance of appeal not be the final round in this particular case? Or if the decision is changed can Amaral appeal again? If it can just be appealed endlessly its a bit of a joke as there will never be a conclusion

The Portuguese Supreme Court is more or less the last stop unless someone wants to try to have the case ruled on at the ECHR. It is not a given the ECHR will hear it anyway and it could drag on for another few years going that route.
Both parties seem to be hell bent on self destruction imo.

The bottom line remains.

Amaral won the appeal.

The Supreme Court in Portugal, from what I have read and been told does not normally civil cases.

I remember saying several years that this would go on for years.

Seems I was correct.

agreed apart from the fact that I would say self preservation. The self destruction description is more apt to amaral.. He could have written a very similar book which did not expose himself to such a risk..an arrogant fool is a reasonable description...he was and felt untouchable...he isn't

That is exactly the description I would give of the mccanns.

Arrogant and they  thought they were invulnerable.

Right on the first, wrong on the second.

IMO of course.....

So which Court does?  Some Court must.

the McCanns are very vulnerable..and I don't see arrogance...I see pain...that's why I have so much sympathy for them

They have jurisdiction over civil actions, but maybe  most are rejected so don't get that far.

The victim was Madeleine.

Not the mccanns.

They placed their children in needless danger.

I am sure he will have "gone to school on their putt" as it were and will leave well alone after suggesting he will not, just to give a few people a bit of ring twitter.

I wouldn't bet the mortgage on it Alice ... he has form for taking out expensive (for him) and ill advised defamation action against people he believes have insulted his honour.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

It has not even  been determined there was a crime.
