Wasn't the book banned at a previous hearing

The McCanns got it banned, overturned on Appeal, Supreme Court upheld the appeal.

So cumulative scores of no importance
It's the final event that counts

Absolutely, but it gives the bookies something to work with when setting the odds.

It's all a bit of a gamble when you resort to the Law.

Probably one of the more sensible sentences on the thread.
"All I'm going to say is that we've conducted a very serious investigation and there's no indication that Madeleine McCann's parents are connected to her disappearance. On the other hand, we have a lot of evidence pointing out that Christian killed her," Wolter told the "Friday at 9"....

The McCanns did well against the UK newspapers. They paid up without a court battle. I think they expected Amaral to do the same;

It is not often the accusers ask to negotiate before a trial, but in this case it was so. TVmais found that, on the eve of Gonçalo Amaral's trial, the McCann couple's lawyers proposed a meeting in order to reach an extrajudicial settlement [out of court].

This time they had to go the whole way, Amaral being as determined as they were.

Did the Tapas 7 get to court, or was theirs an out of court settlement as well?

it is quite normal for the accusers to seek an out of court settlement

It will be if they lose .  They won't be eager to pay out umpteen thousand in costs.

Settled just before the case began, I think.

The Portuguese court order would have to be enforced by a uk court..would the McCanns challenge the award in the uk and would the uk court enforce it
Who knows
