If the Supreme Court accepts an appeal and overturns the decision of the Appeal Court then the legal position will have changed. Until then it's not correct to accuse Amaral of libel without pointing out that it's an opinion, not a fact. Posting opinion as fact is against the forum rules, as you have pointed out. I expect a mod can correct me on that if I've got it wrong.

Agreed Admin. The argument is that Amaral did accuse the parents of crimes, for which there is no proof, let alone his bewildering understanding of certain elements and apparently that's not illegal in Portugal.

Tavares De Almeida was found guilty in the Portuguese Courts of the torture of Virgilino Borges and given a suspended sentence, of IIRC two and a half years
Concalo Amaral was also found guilty in a Portuguese Court of Perjury in the Leonor Cipriano case.

Both men are officially criminals.


How much notice should we take about a report from one criminal about another?  Both of whom were CI's attached to the Madeleine case and mates.

Whether you value the report or not is of no consequence. The fact remains that his conclusions matched those of the investigation.
