Great tunes Anna .... a tragic plane crash that took Valens and Buddy Holly so young.
The following great track by Eddie Cochran was filmed 3 days after that plane crash. Of course Cochran himself died way too young too ... in a car crash the following year in Chippenham, aged 21!

Some songs you never tire of 'My sweet Lord' being one of them.
I have often wondered which modern day artists, if any, will stand the test of time. I cant really think of any other than the Beatles. Now even the likes of Coldplay just seem to fade.

No, you need vinyl, a turntable, a good amp and a decent pair of speakers, to get the best sound.

Another Iconic performer, Eartha Kitt. Was she ever earthy !!
I really wanted a good performance of "An Old Fashioned Millionaire", but was unable to find one.. that was a song which I saw live on stage on two different dates. As she grew older her performance improved cos growled her music out. Fabulously dramatic.

Good singer for a sixty-odd year old... won't get run over crossing the road at night with that outfit on either!
Reminds me of soul nights at the local Casino when girls danced around their handbags... although wasn't really my scene as I was more into folk- and progressive-rock.

Edited: My sound system has broken and as I haven't been able to hear the previosly posted Youtube Video, I have removed it. Until such time that I can .... sorry]. Seemed unwise to post something I hadn't heard.
Maybe someone with sound can find a good representative video to replace it? Thanks
Joe Cocker was a one off with a special voice. A great Blues and Rock and Roll singer, he made his own musical rules. Passionate, colourful and expressionistic. He performed outside the box, took things to new heights.
If he were a painter, I would love to see his work

Never heard of Rosie Hardman before, bet not many have... but she's got a set of pipes that would shame a church organ! No longer sings these days but does a fine line in bespoke greetings cards.

LOUSY LAPTOP SPEAKERS?
A simple way to increase the default maximum speaker volume:
Click on the Start button.
Open up the Control Panel.
Click or double-click on the Sound (loudspeaker) icon, in Classic View.
Click or double-click on your laptop's Speakers/Headphones icon in the box that opens up.
In the next Speakers/Headphones Properties dialog box, click on the Enhancements tab., then tick the Loudness Equalization tickbox.
Click on the Preview button to hear if the volume has increased above the default maximum.
Then click on Apply.
This should improve the loudness... especially of Rosie Hardman!

The illusion was shattered for me after reading that the banjo part was faked with camera trickery and in reality played by musician Mike Addis sitting behind the "redneck" Billy Redden, screencast for his unusual "look".
Oh God, Myster. Not the Bob thing. What's next.....Leonard Cohen? Torture!!

For anyone who loves the music of the late Karen Carpenter can I introduce Sarah Joyce, otherwise known as Rumer.
Sarah Joyce (born 3 June 1979), better known by her stage name, Rumer, is a Pakistani-born British singer–songwriter. Her stage name was inspired by the author Rumer Godden. Rumer's voice has been described by The Guardian and many others as being reminiscent of Karen Carpenter. Supported by leading music industry figures including Burt Bacharach, Jools Holland and Elton John, Rumer was nominated for two Brit awards on 13 January 2011. She has performed at several festivals such as Glastonbury Festival.
Rumer was born Sarah Joyce on 3 June 1979 in Islamabad, Pakistan, the youngest of seven children. Her mother's husband was a British engineer working on the Tarbela Dam project and the family lived in a self-contained expatriate community near Islamabad. Sarah's mother had a relationship with her cook, who was Pakistani and is Sarah's biological father. None of Sarah's six siblings knew she had a different father and she did not discover this until the age of 11, when her parents divorced and the family returned to England. Sarah attended Newman School in Carlisle until she was 16, then studied drama at Dartington College of Arts in Devon before moving to London. She tried her hand in bands and waitressing.
When her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, Sarah moved to live in a caravan in the New Forest to be with her. and started writing songs. Her mother died in 2003 and Sarah had a breakdown. She joined a commune in the south of England for a year, then returned to London to pursue her music career. She later travelled to Pakistan to seek her father, but learnt he had died some months before her visit.
I can see why Burt Bacharrach teamed up with her! I recall hearing her sing once on Loose Ends on Radio 4 and thinking how pure her voice: much more subtle than so many female artists today.

Pistol is ok at 'Dads Dancing'! I tried to get him to salsa but to no avail.
I noticed at salsa some of the guys smelled of wee although they looked clean. Which I have to say really put me off. I couldn't work it out. Then one day I was feeling unwell and took some washing out the machine and left it in the laundry basket. Mainly cotton tops, tshirts that sort of thing. Anyway a few days passed and I eventually dealt with the washing which was mainly dry. I then noticed yuk the same wee smell from the guys at salsa. It is obviously caused by mould or the like forming in damp clothing. I was actually quite happy as I realised instantly this was the problem with the guys at salsa and my dancing improved as a result ?{)(**

It will probably be a marmite song as I am sure there will be those who prefer the original. In this case though I believe the new version to be better than the old. Best to listen not watch the video as that is awful IMO.

Ugh!!! 8(8-)) Nothing as good as the original imo, and even 50 years on sounds better live than the latest imposters who rely on video trickery for effect and are incapable of producing genuine melodies themselves. Remember being in the back row of the local Odeon (with my latest girlfriend) mesmerized by both movie and soundtrack of 'The Graduate', which also stands the test of time.

Oh blimey, I wish that my default mechanism on a Saturday night wasn't coming home and Bambering. I think that PH posted today on blue that "Freedom isn't far away" or something like that. Well, freedom is so, so far away that if she was looking through the Hadron Collider, she'd still have to really squint. I can't be arsed to dredge over the many, many facts that show how Sheila was murdered, alongside her family, but the Bamber supporters (Tru, Tesko, all the other fraggles who should know better) give me the same creepy feeling as the desperate zombies who support Ian Huntley, Ian Brady and Rose West. Just because you desperately need Jeremy Bamber to be innocent doesn't, and will never make him so. He made mistakes, some of which are obvious, and some we're not privy to. There was no phone call from WHF. And if you believe there was, you must be as thick as a whale omelette.
But at least you get a cheap, crappy Christmas card from a child killer! 8((()*/
Lookout, PH, why do you plough your lonely furrow, when if you took off your stubborn, angry, old lady blinkers you might actually see this case for what it is? You don't investigate, you don't want to learn, you'll read any old crap and go with it, and insult anyone who doesn't agree with you. You really need to question, question, and question again. I can't see Bamber being released on the strength of "well, I used to be a nurse."
Actually, you and I both know that Bamber will stay where he is. Because of his greed and stupidity, he destroyed 3 generations of a good and decent family, and killed two little boys in their beds. He's a disgusting human being, and will rot. Don't forget to let Tru know. She seems to be as simple and deluded as you are.
I know this doesn't help, and it's old, old, old.....but no one in their right mind would put empty pleasures before the safety of their children. But the Mcanns, from "f..k off" on the journey to "it was too dark to search" when it all went wrong didn't seem to care about anything except their images of themselves. I hope to god that I'm never in that desperate place, but I doubt that I would worry about my highlights and earrings. And the hand-holding thing.....
Yes, you're right, it was a cheap shot, a bit shabby. We all cope in our own ways. I just find them a very odd couple, and I now understand how otherwise intelligent and sensible people think that they might be guilty in some way. Kate should never have written that book.
Seriously, Steph, you're a fruit-loop. You're smart, clever, but you're also a mad, lonely old woman. You'll probably blast me out of the water with your brainy stuff, but I'll still go to bed with my lovely husband and my 7 pugs, and you'll wriggle about in your sleeping bag wondering why your husband chose a lonely death.

“She has consistently made spiteful, damaging posts about **** and ******, for the last five years, when she hasn't got a clue about them, or their way of life, or who they were. She reflects her bitter, blinkered bigotry onto two wholly innocent women because she's deluded about ******, and full of self-loathing. And her ignorance is jaw-dropping.”
And remind us all WHEN it was you joined the forum in support of mass murderer Jeremy Bamber and how you found the forum?
Shonapugs Re: An interesting topic emerged in the foyer yesterday. « Reply #83 on: September 09, 2011, 09:37:PM » My problem is that I can't see enough physical evidence on Sheila's body to convince me that she fought with Ralph. And seriously, Mrs Wah, if you mod or remove this, I'll kick off a storm, because I've been here since day one, and I'm entitled to give my opinion. So don't baby me or patronise.
Actually, please don't reply. You should show some respect to a bereaved family. Instead of trying to dredge up some imaginary crap to feed your weird mindset. I wish you'd stop.
And I await your usual angry, ungrammatical, badly punctuated dinosaur comeback. Which will, as usual, make you look like the horrible, bigoted, ignorant, inhumane old baggage that you are. You almost make me feel sorry for Bamber. But not quite.
Hmm. Maybe this analogy should have been "nelliephants" and "buns." The hypocrisy on blue concerning Paul Harrison - who, by the way is still doing his groovy thing every night on CBS Reality, so someone must have faith in him - is gobsmacking. The blue forum licked his arse like a Magnum when they thought he was writing a supportive book about Bamber. I await the tragic, hubristic, self-serving crap from Nellie, and the supportive, blinkered, bigoted, angry, badly punctuated faffle from Mrs. Angry.
She hasn't got much time left on this planet yet she squanders every waking moment obsessing about a child murderer who, I guarantee, wouldn't p*** on her if she was on fire. And when she gets called out on the ignorant, spiteful crap that she posts she bleats and grizzles and tells outright whoppers!
I used to think that Bamber would reach a certain age and admit defeat and his guilt, but as Justice points out, it wouldn't help him and his life wouldn't be worth living. His brain must be scrambled, and his physical health is poor. He uses and despises his small band of supporters. I just resent any resources wasted on him, when they could be put to better use, he's always been the ultimate parasite.
Your attempts at projecting your character flaws onto others over many years shows you for the person you truly are. And the racism you have shown across the two forums exemplifies you as THE WORST offender.
Racism is the belief in the superiority of one race over another. It may also mean prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against other people because they are of a different race or ethnicity. Modern variants of racism are often based in social perceptions of biological differences between peoples.

It's sweet isn't it - a bit Kate Rusby. I wonder what Olivia Colman will do with Glory Box!

I stopped watching Doctor Who after Tom Baker, so I had no idea who Jodie Whittaker was. But yes, a very sweet voice she has, lends itself well to this cover version.

No, but I know that I should. It makes me a horrible person, and I have massive shame when I wake up in the morning. It breaks my heart when I have to come to terms with the fact that I've written something damaging or hurtful just because I've come home from the pub full of bullshit and bravado. I have to live with that. I didn't take into consideration how my clumsy crap upset and hurt you. You're fiercely intelligent, and you must miss Simon more than I can comprehend. You invested your entire being into a shadow.
I'm sorry, Steph. I truly am. I've been a dick.

Such a crazy song, I love the guitar riffs & totally insanity of the lyrics. *%87
Can't imagine how many drugs they were on when they came up with this.
And yes, Wonderfulspam is a mad persona, I just love a good wum. I'm not such a bad guy outside of internet land.
Yes, it’s amazing (the song, not your persona). There’s a new band out called Snapped Ankles that have a bit of a B-52s vibe to them. https://youtu.be/X_X6NfeBCdE

I think those women are part of their fan base, who are very loyal. Tyber still sings with the band, and when they appeared at Wembley in May Si did a guest appearance also. They'll never be famous now, but the Dualers still seem to be making a living. https://www.datathistle.com/event/1836239-the-dualers-road-to-wembley-2022-tour-wembley-arena/

Pure magic... I loved this when I heard it a few years ago..
I didn't pick up it was about drugs!! still love the tune...
Pretty Flamingo by Manfred Mann was supposed to be of the same, Puff the Magic dragon was thought so to, but Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary told the story in later years it was nothing of the sort.
