The lack of foresic examination

The initial forensic sweep of the apartment.

The bed was examined, photos were taken - hairs were labelled and bagged for examination.

After that stage why was the bedding from the bed not bagged and sent for detailed forensic examination which would have discovered Madeleine's DNA and also detected if there was any from a stranger?

Wouldn't that be basic procedure?
