He omitted to tell the police about the Heroin Jeremy tried to buy as A) the police never asked him about Heroin and the subject never came up, and B) BC was nervous as hell having been dragged into it all, and as he at that time didn’t know Jeremy was the killer he didn’t want to grass him up

Does anyone know if the Criminal Cases Review Commission made contact with or interviewed Brett Collins?

I don't see the drug issue as being a potential cause for the murders. Jeremy was engaging in long term planning to kill everyone so he would gain the entire wealth of his family. His timetable featured when His entire family was staying under 1 roof. He needed them under 1 roof because 2 or more homicide events would be more suspicious plus his selected plan was to pretend Sheila killed everyone else then herself. When and where was set around this.
From a legal standpoint the only reason to allow Julie to even tell a jury about the other crimes was so that they could see her complete relationship with Jeremy. The fact he involved her in selling his drugs for him and took her along to burglarize the caravan site demonstrates he trusted her and makes it more likely he would also be willing to tell her about other crimes. It goes to her relationship with him.
How many years did Bamber take illegal drugs ?
And has he ever completed a prison drug course?

He took Cocaine too — which was expensive back then...no idea how he afforded it
He sampled Julie’s Tramadol she brought down — that’s when he was plotting to drug his family — but despite taking a few mixed with booze they had little effect. He told Julie they were “useless”. So he’d obviously built up a tolerance to mind altering drugs...
He possibly took a few lines of cocaine when he carried the murders out

He’s terribly inadequate, and proof of that is how he wanted to be appear like a rich playboy. You can just imagine all the grandiose lies he used to tell people...in reality he was just a thick squirt.
Some women thought he was good-looking, but he hardly had movie star looks. More importantly, he didn’t seem to have a presence or ooze sex appeal; his sly, cowardly, greedy, arrogant character seeped through. The fact no-one liked him speaks volumes: they probably took the rise out of him, being a Walter Mitty and all that...telling ridiculous stories, trying to act cool and hard when he was just a wimp. He was and is just a lowlife and that’s why people avoided him.

It’s on Google somewhere (shall try to find it later this afternoon) where a reporter from one of the tabloids (can’t remember which one) was waiting with her in a hotel that the paper had paid for on the day the jury gave their verdict.
JB had asked for £100k to sell his story if he was found innocent. Not sure how much the paper finally agreed on, but doubt they’d have paid a nobody that much. Anyway, JB was sure he’d bamboozle the jury lol...hs girlfriend had bought balloons, banners, a big cake etc...Champagne on ice etc...
When the verdict came through she was so disappointed she walked out the hotel and narrowly got run over by a bus. I don’t know for sure, but I don’t think she’d known him long, Especializados as he’d been on remand for a year...so may have been a supporter...
Never heard about her since, so she moved on quickly, no doubt...

What's the story with Anji Greaves ?
Was she Bamber's girlfriend before Julie ? Bamber was with Julie prior to and after the massacre. He went abroad directly after they split and just before his arrest, so couldn't have got back with Greaves.
If Anji Greaves was his girlfriend from years ago, what was she doing writing to him in prison, pre conviction ? Trying to jump on the gravy train if Bamber got aquited I suspect. She soon disappeared after the verdict.
Apparently, Bamber wrote over 100 letters to AG whilst he was on remand in Brixton. He had to satisfy his ardour somehow other than banging the bishop. She had their bags packed in a hotel room ready to be whisked away on holiday if he was acquitted, but after receiving the guilty verdict she walked out into the street in a daze and was almost run over... so the story goes.

I agree Myster, now I've viewed the ones online I think it has been purchased, I had wondered that however I could not verify that and I know Jeremy couldn't either, he believed it was made. It's a very basic box, it's not a puzzle and opens quite easily.

Well, I can understand how people might want to leave their involvement with Bamber behind because there are some really shitty individuals attracted to the subject. However, my own experience of SL was that when I aksed him a question in respect to a claim made in his book, he wasn't able to back it up and referred me to the CT.

From what I can conclude, despite him having various women dotted around, including Brett, his dream was to move to NZ or Australia...so none of these women were permanent fixtures as far as he was concerned. I suspect he’d have got as much money from the estate as possible after selling up, stayed a while in London doing the playboy thing while creaming off the income from the caravan park, then shot off to Australia with Brett where they have a huge gay scene out there and could have had men galore without being talk of the village in Essex.
Oh, the woman in France was older than him (early 30s) with a body like an 18-year-old according to Brett, and she just wanted sex. Possibly a bored housewife of an older businessman and fancied some nooky. JB obliged, obviously, as she footed the bill for their expensive lunches/dinners and Champagne. Wonder what she’d have thought had she known those same vile fingers poring over her body had shot dead five members of his family, including two six-year-old boys just WEEKS before?

Brett Collins didn’t know any solicitors in this country. He just looked for one to try and help JB as at that time he wanted to believe he was innocent.
JB, being a grandiose psychopath, insisted he wanted the BEST. The law society refused saying Legal Aid would not pay the sort of money Sir David Napley cost. However, SDN was approached and although he refused to represent him, he suggested a colleague who might have a crack at it and who was excellent too.
Brett went back to NZ before the trial — he didn’t want to know Jeremy anymore — but he had helped in the very beginning.
In the event, JB had a brilliant barrister — one of the BEST.

Well, I can understand how people might want to leave their involvement with Bamber behind because there are some really shitty individuals attracted to the subject. However, my own experience of SL was that when I aksed him a question in respect to a claim made in his book, he wasn't able to back it up and referred me to the CT.

We're back to timings again. From the murders in August, including the funerals, his weekends away and his holidays, to his arrest in September, he did pretty well to meet and bed two sisters, one of whom seemed to think she was in an ongoing relationship with him.

Oh, absolutely!
He’s demonstrated how he likes to have things such as locks of hair, and keeping that box of Sheila’s which was probably given to HER but Grannie Bamber gave him a kick. He stole it because he was jealous, and it was also part of Sheila. He would have got excitement touching it knowing Sheila’s beautiful fingers had touched it, and then he’d replay the murders through his mind and get a massive surge of excitement reliving it in his mind.
Who knows what warped thoughts went through his mind about a Sheila long before he killed her? She was stunningly beautiful and although there’s not been any speculation that he attempted to sexually assault her, she did seem scared of him in later years and avoided him.
I also read (though aim not sure it’s correct as it’s not an official source), that Sheila had no knickers on when she was killed. As all women know, you always wear knickers when you’re menstruating, and Sheila had put to soak her worn ones she’d worn that day in a bucket, ready to wash the next day. When getting ready for bed she’d have put on clean knickers. So that’s weird...
And before some delusional jumps on that and comes out with the nonsense about ritual cleansing, no-one puts their watch back on to kill themselves

When I say a box, neither a watch box or granny's box, just a box along with other stuff. I never wrapped it, covered it etc, I put it away in the loft and it stayed there for years.

I get a plaque or some kudos; their accomplishment is perpetrating a crime. I get to put the plaque up on the wall of my den. They get to take something from the victim to give to the girlfriend, or put up in the attic.
It’s surprising how many killers return not just to the gravesite but to the scene of the crime. And some killers — the more organized or premeditated type — sometimes even inject themselves into the police investigation to provide bogus information. They do it for different reasons. They may want to find out where the investigation is headed or look for cues that it’s progressing along nicely because, naturally, they’re concerned about that.

As we've both said it appears the UK government first issued licences to UK farmers to grow opium poppies in the noughties. JB said WHF had a special licence to grow opium poppies for the pharmaceutical industry. You and others have suggested JB lied. If JB lied I would have expected this to be revealed during the course of the investigation and used against JB at trial; it wasn't.
The difference between borage and opium poppies is that opium poppies are the source of powerful drugs: heroin, methadone and morphine. As such a licence is required to cultivate them. Borage is a herb and is cultivated for culinary and medicinal (herbal remedies) uses.

Sheila's Flat - Maida Vale - Wed 4 Sept 1985
According to Julie Mugford, she telephoned Bamber at Sheila's flat in Maida Vale on Tuesday 3 September 1985. She called round the following day. She said it appeared that he was staying at the flat with a friend, Richard Deckers. She arrived at the flat at 2.50pm and sat waiting in the doorway. He arrived with Brett at about 3.40pm, he got out of the car before Brett and came over and gave her a hug. She asked to see him alone and we walked to a cafe across the road.
In the cafe she asked about their relationship. Bamber said he had been sold out and was it a matter of continuing the relation ship or her going to the police. Bamber said that he didn't want to continue the relationship and wanted his freedom. Brett arrived at the cafe and discussed some business with Jeremy. Julie states that they she then suggested moving some of her belongings to her new address before all three again left for Sheila's flat.
At the flat Brett attended to a man who had just arrived. The phone rang and Jeremy answered it. Julie says that he seemed speak in an overly friendly manner to the caller so she asked him who it was and he replied Virginia. Virginia was previously acquainted with both Jeremy and Richard Decker. Julie states that she terminated the call before the phone rang again, it was Virginia. Julie was angry with Jeremy as he had asked out another woman. She states that she walked out of the room into a bedroom where she picked up a Chinese box and threw it against a mirror, smashing it. With that Jeremy came into the room with the phone before ending the call.
Jeremy asked why she had did it and she told him that it was cruel to ask out another woman while she was there, Bamber became really cross and Julie had slapped his face. Julie recalls that he grabbed her right arm and pushed it up her back and shoved her onto the bed and made to strike her. Julies states that she goaded him daring him to hit her. She said she told him that she would go straight to Essex Police and they would listen to her. Bamber said that the case was so watertight that they would never listen to her.
Bamber let go of her and lay on the bed very quiet. Julie said she asked him to speak to her and why he was so quiet. She said he looked worried and she felt sorry for him. They started talking again normally and she told him that he could trust her and that she wouldn't say anything. Jeremy eventually gave her a lift home to her flat.
Brett Collins was a friend whom Bamber had met while in New Zealand.

JM wasn’t furious she actually stated she was annoyed (top of page 29 of her WS)
“I was annoyed with him about the call as he had told me he had asked out another women. The phone then rang again and it was Virginia. When that broke he came into the room with the phone, still on it to Virginia and then put it down.

He then got hold of my right arm and twisted it up my back, pushed me onto the bed and then he raised his arm as if to hit me

Bamber viewed JM as a means to an end - she was no longer useful to him hence why he told her their relationship ‘had already been sold out’
And his smear campaign against JM had increased weeks before

Bamber’s smear campaign of JM has had his supporters wrongly believe JM gave him an alternative

That sounds like Jeremy had to wipe the rifle after the fight because his own fingerprints would have overlapped Nevill’s, proving he was the killer. Forensics would see by all the fingerprint patterns that Jeremy and Nevill struggled over the rifle. That’s why he had to wipe it clean of prints.
I can’t remember how many of Nevill’s fingerprints were found on the gun, but you’d imagine there’d be hundreds considering it belonged to him, and from memory, I think they only found a couple? And Sheila certainly wouldn’t have wiped them off.
Maybe JB was worried that he had no choice but to wipe the gun clean, and that should have alerted police as to why so few of Nevill’s fingerprints were on it.
Of course, after wiping it clean and having put his glove back on, he pressed Sheila’s finger onto it — just twice, I think? Which is also ridiculous. Sheila’s prints would’ve been all over it!
