Title: Were pages from the investigation not released to the press ?
Post by: DevilsAdvocate on May 03, 2013, 02:43:57 PM
I have read elsewhere, a long time ago, that the files released to the press on DVD were not the complete case files and that some 8000+ pages had been held back (although it was claimed that Madeleine's parents did receive the full files), can anyone tell if this is true ?

If what is true?

That 8000 pages were held back?

Or that the McCanns received the full files?

If the McCanns received the full files, I'll bet Stuart Prior's report makes for very interesting reading in the light of Amaral's claim that he corrected Prior on the forensics ...

Obviously you can't release every document to the public when a case is not yet resolved.
However I consider that the released DVD is very complete information wise and I don't understand why the UK press never used it. Too afraid of the maccorrucker lawyers, probably. So much from freedom of speach. That Levenson  thing is a parody.

The McCann are "persons of interest" why on earth would they get he full files?! Unless their buddies  police sent those unreleased files to them  >@@(*&)

Is it true that 8000+ pages were held back ?

If it is true then we are all just shooting in the dark as only a select few individuals will have the full details of the investigation.

This site http://www.mccannpjfiles.co.uk/home.htm claims there were 11,223 pages of documents, whilst the BBC claimed to have 20,000 pages and Sky News claimed to have 30,000 pages !

Kate McCann says in her book that, crucially, they do not have access to all the information that has come into the enquiry

She says that the Portuguese authorities possess a great deal of material that was not included in the police file released into the public domain

The British police too, she adds, hold information which they  ( the McCanns ) do not have

Yes, don't you remember the McCanns asked access to the LC files through Mrs Justice Hogg and it was negated (7 July 2008) ?
The LC justified this refusal : though it's possible that one (of the McCanns) or both are innocent, no clear proof eliminates them from being involved in the disappearance of Madeleine. (I could find the exact quotation).
Missing files are the rogatories of the TP7.
Interesting missing file : an interview (in the UK) of David Payne (we know its existence through another file).
Others are concerning paedophiles the list of which the UK sent to the PJ. UK officers came to Portimao to make sure those files wouldn't be included in the DVD.

Oh yeah!  @)(++(*

I remember that, it was precious. Maybe the biggest homage the LPD ( edit; Leicestershire Police) gave to little Madeleine.  8@??)(

But it's inevitable that most of the information cannot and should not be made public, not only because there is sensitive information concerning others but also because there might be inconclusive data concerning investigations in progress. After all the case is only archived, not finished/resolved.

Thanks for your exposition Anne.

And not forgetting the 'evidence' electronic surveilence and phone recordings that was deemed inadmissable, but is sitting somewhere on ice.

after 6 years the damning evidence on ice would have melted.

I must applaud your answer, but can you not see certain cover-ups recently that have taken decades to surface?
