I like this.  Hope you do too

Not Madeleine but other missing children

All missing children are precious.

Indeed they are, Sadie.  And that is a lovely song, despite me not understanding a word of it.

The message comes across without the words.

I enjoyed it and I think that people who understand German will like it even more

Liked the music, the drumming and the singer 8(>(( 8(0(*, as well

the lyrics:

The song is called die Suche / the search

For the person who loves me totally,
who accompanies me, argues with me and forgives me
For the person who walks with me and lies in my arms
This song is for you

For the person who knows me better than myself
Who keeps every promise they make
For the person who does not bend and looks me in the eyes
This song is for you

And I'll look for you until I've found you
In Rome in Amsterdam or Prague
Berlin or Reykjavik, Paris or Mozambique
I know that you exist.

For the person who understands me even when I remain silent
for the person who carries on walking with me even if I have doubts
For the person who looks at themself
Who takes for themself but still carries on giving
This song is for you

And I'll look for you until I've found you
In Rome in Amsterdam or Prague
Berlin or Reykjavik, Paris or Mozambique
I know that you exist.

And I know that I can find you
Because what belongs together - will find each other
In Berlin or Reykjavik, Paris or Mozambique
I know that you exist
I know that you exist

the words are simple - yet the more powerful for it IMHO

Actually the words are not nice, they are lovely, even tho simple ... as are the sentiments.

Quietly powerful, as you say

I was expecting it to be a list of lost children!

Lovely.  Thank you.

Also I have always found the lyrics of Dire Strait's "On Every Street" a touching thought of the search for missing people.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pceU2F_b3QM

There's gotta be a record of you someplace
You gotta be on somebody's books
The lowdown, a picture of your face
Your injured looks
The sacred and profane
The pleasure and the pain
Somewhere your fingerprints remain concrete
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street

A ladykiller, regulation tattoo
Silver spurs on his heels
Says, what can I tell you, as I'm standing next to you
She threw herself under my wheels
Oh it's a dangerous road
And a hazardous load
And the fireworks over liberty explode in the heat
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street

A three-chord symphony crashes into space
The moon is hanging upside down
I don't know why it is I'm still on the case
It's a ravenous town
And you still refuse to be traced
Seems to me such a waste
And every victory has a taste that's bittersweet
And it's your face I'm looking for on every street

From Emily Dickinson:

Quote
Hope

Hope is the thing with feathers
 That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
 And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
 That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
 And on the strangest sea;
 Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

Says it all for me.

The McCanns are criticised at every turn.

Sadly, an initiative on YouTube to help find other missing children, developed in collaboration with the McCanns, was at first popular.. and then dropped into oblivion.

It is still a useful opportunity to publicise a missing child at relatively low cost (legal paperwork and translations, mainly, plus any costs in producing a video appeal) in order to get the child featured.

About Don't You Forget About Me

The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children (ICMEC), in collaboration with the Find Madeleine Campaign and with the generous support of YouTube, has created this channel to help reunite missing children with their families.

The title of the channel, "Don't You Forget About Me," is named after the hit song by the Scottish Rock group "Simple Minds," and is featured in the video of 4-year-old Madeleine McCann who went missing on May 3, 2007.

ICMEC is providing this channel as a public service. Any errors or misrepresentation of information on the channel are unintentional. Please contact us at video@icmec.org to report any errors or incorrect information.

Founded in 1998, ICMEC is a leading global service agency working to protect the world's children from exploitation and abduction.

It is a beautiful video demonstrating a very happy little girl and a loving family.

What a wonderful daddy Gerry is.  What an obviously caring and loving daddy he is playing with the children on the floor like that.  And how Madeleine loves her daddy

Not so many families like that these days, I think

You've never been rude or unpleasant to anyone as far as I have seen, quite the contrary.

Well I have been trying to find out.

Supposedly I made sexist remarks

And supposedly I took threads off their correct routes.  I do waffle a bit,  Guess I am an old codger

It has been suggested by a moderator that the sexist bit is because I said about somebodies Tester'ne causing him to behave as he did.  It's almost certainly the truth that is the actual reason .. cos I cant see any other reason that an intelligent man would make such absurd (to me at least) suggestions ... unless it was the male ... "I can do this ... I would do that" ... swagger syndrome.

I have never before in my life been called a sexist.  I find it quite amusing. tbh

Anyway, I have been truthful, very angry and outspoken over recent events on this forum.  I was expecting a mighty smack for that ... but not for the reasons given.

Oh ... and I have started doing things that i have never ever done in my life, real or internet, because I hate tell tales.  But now I have started reporting people too.

They do it all the time.  I shall join them now

Another thing.  I want to know why Red has had her bad points, already far too low, imo, reduced from 60 to 50 to 30?
.....when AmaralsOfficeboy, Registrar, and some others have kept all theirs?

One rule for some?   A different rule for the rest of us?

Thank you kindly registrar.  lovely words.

I am very touched

Have only looked at the first youtube yet and love the drumming and instrumentals from 4.14 and the contrast of simple and plain to the mighty crescendo there .... and the last few notes ... genius.

Abbey Lane.  Saw Boy George riding a sit up and beg bike there.  Quite a sight.

Jamie Cullum on guitar?   Fancy you remembering.  But I like him better on jazz piano tbh.  and i like the German singer in the OP better than this singer.  The German guy has more style

I guess you chose this because of the words
So give me the song and ill sing it like I mean it
So give me the words and ill say them like I mean it

Spot on; that's me.

Had me rocking in my seat.  Love a bit of rock and a bit of Heavy metal.

he looks an awful lot like Jamie Cullum, but he's not him

he is Sophie Ellis-Bextor's husband

In 2005, Ellis-Bextor married The Feeling bassist Richard Jones at Palazzo Terranova in Italy. Their first son, Sonny, was born in April 2004.[40] Their second son, Kit Jones, was born on 7 February 2009, nine weeks premature and weighing only 2 lb 10oz. This was her second complicated birth; their first son having been delivered eight weeks prematurely by emergency caesarean section after she developed pre-eclampsia. Their third child, also a son, named Ray Holiday Jones, was born on 25 April 2012.[41]
