Title: Heartbreaking !
Post by: faithlilly on October 15, 2013, 01:15:04 AM
Help Find Ben Needham ( Facebook )
Following on from tonight's Crimewatch show - we wish the McCaans our best wishes in finding their daughter. However, as you will understand, the Needham family find it difficult that so much effort and resources goes into finding one particular child, provided for by our Government, but the Needhams' are refused such help. It is simply unfair and heartbreaking to say the least. We need to convince the Government to stop playing favouritism or political point scoring - and to provide the same assistance and help to ALL who have missing children - not just one! PLEASE - we need this petition to reach 100,000 signatures. Do what you can to sign, get friends and family to share - and to spread it around! Thanks for your support! - Scott

CW doesn't seem to have done anything to help finding what happened to Madeleine McCann, but could have intended to help DCI Redwood finding himself an umbrella against a shower of protests.

I want to put this thought out there after seeing some comments... What do people think of having a peaceful march/rally to Downing Street to campaign for ALL families of missing people to receive the same help and support as the McCaans'. How many would be willing to take part in such an event?

As I have said before whilst I have every sympathy with The Needham family Ben is of an age where if he is still alive he would see the publicity an be able to return home himself.I think the comparison is totally flawed and you will be lucky to get   a few thousand signatures. when asked to provide details of other missing children a poster showed a website where the first child was 28. Again this person could return home under there own steam. As we know most abductees return home quickly...perhaps there aren't as many genuine missing children as you think

yes because it usually turns out to be  either  parents or family friends who are responsible

What if he can't return home though? Don't his parents deserve to know what happened to him?

I for one won't begrudge any means of support or  tax payers money being used to help find Ben Needham. Ben also needs to be found.

That 'other poster' was me. It should be pointed out that the missing child is not 28. When they went missing they were a child. Who is to say they are still alive?

To that persons family they are still a child.

Or perhaps we should just make an effort up until they are 18 and then forget about them?

After a week of wall to wall McCann PR my heart bleeds for Kerry Needham that this is the response she gets from one of our largest television channels :

I have to say I am disappointed with the response I just received from STV News regarding covering the story of the Share4Ben day and the 12 Hour Radio show. This is the reply I just received - and this is actually ALL it said...

"We will decide closer to the date, but the answer will probably be no"

While we are yet again bombarded by 'Greek girl gives great hope to the McCanns poor Kerry and her family, who think this girl being found really may be a breakthrough in their case, are forgotten once again.

From the Official Find Ben Facebook page :

TO THE BRITISH MEDIA:
As you have clearly not connected the dots here with the story of the little abducted girl discovered in Greece.. Let me help you out a little.... The area she was found in is the very same area a prisoner in Greece told police that BEN NEEDHAM was being held in 1996. The lead was never fully investigated or closed. You can find the full details at http://www.helpfindben.co.uk/history.html Now THAT is the "connection" that should be made!

Interesting, Faithlilly. I'm starting a new topic on this little girl's case.

Just read Ben's website. Heartbreaking indeed.

I had no idea that there had been so much work done (not enough) on that case, or that there were real leads as to specific abductors / families who may have taken him.

Her discovery has given hope to the family of Ben Needham - one of the longest-running missing persons cases in British history.

The boy disappeared from outside his grandparent's farmhouse on the Greek island of Kos in 1991.

Ben Needham vanished in Greece 22 years ago

Ben's sister Leighanna told Sky News: "I believe that the camp the little girl was found in was looked at (during the investigation into her brother's disappearance).

"But 22 years ago, the Greek police were scared of the gypsies and pretty much point-blank refused to go into the camps...so our inquiries into these camps never fully got covered."

The case, which some people have likened to the Madeleine McCann disappearance, has raised concerns about how easy it appeared to be for people to get official documents for children who are not their own.
