Christmas can be a painful time for anyone who has lost a loved one particularly if it's a child imo - be it because they have died or because they are missing.

Now that PT have re-opened the case and SY have moved on from a review to a full investigation, I hope next year will bring closure for the McCanns and that this is the last Christmas they will have to endure the agony of not knowing what happened to their little girl.

Let's hope that is the case, Benice.

This time of year,  when all around seem to be enjoying family bonds and togetherness,  must be so terribly hard for those who have endured loss

And also a tragic time for estranged children themselves, who are parted from their families.

A beautiful message. Best wishes for 2014 Kate & Gerry.

It is, and it must be truly horrendous to be without loved ones and not knowing where they are. More so at this emotional time of year.

God bless all the missing and hopefully they will be returned to their loved ones.

I find this picture used by The Telegraph to be so ironic considering there is no reward and hasn't been one for years.

No Gerry..........hmmm !!

I wondered about that also, Faithlilly.

All the other messages in the 'updates' section (dating back to the start) are also signed only 'Kate' - so maybe nothing odd.

I agree - if you didn't look that up and only saw the front page of the website, you would wonder what was going on,

Who do you think the ''WE'' is that she refers to throughout the message?

It would seem she can't even sign her name now, without somebody finding fault with it.    Very sad IMO that anyone would want to spitefully nitpick a simple thankyou message.

Why cannot ppl be nicer towards Kate & Gerry which  also involves their twins and post  nasty messages on any site. Such a shame as its nearly Christmas season. Always pic nicking.

Well, I've certainly had a lovely Christmas, and I hope Kate & Gerry have had too. I also hope that 2014 sees closer collaboration still between the UK and Portuguese authorities.
