Nothing much been happening with the Bamber campaign team since they were brought to their knees by the CCRC's decision on 26 April 2012 not to refer the case to the Appeal Court. The only cheep out of them has been to indicate that Simon McKay intends to request a Judicial Review of that decision. We wish him luck...he'll need it!
Today the best the campaign team can do is to quote from two 'definitely past their sell-by date' media articles. One related to former MP, Andrew Hunter, who spoke out on behalf of Bamber in Parliament in February 2005 shortly before standing down at the 2005 General Election. He called for the Home Office to look closely at the issue of non-disclosure of evidence and the behaviour of Essex Police. Issues covered were the re-writing and editing of police radio logs, withheld audio tapes along with telephone logs from White House Farm. Also mentioned was the allegation that blood still ran from Sheila's wounds (proving that Sheila could not have died as early as the prosecution claimed by 3.30am latest) none of which were made available to the defence during the trial. Also mentioned during the debate were other pieces of evidence withheld including video recordings of the crime scene and the incident report. The notebooks of the original head of the investigation, Inspector Jones who believed Bamber innocent, these have still not been made available to Bamber’s legal team. Read full text here. Hunter will be remembered for his part in the MP's expenses scandal. He claimed second home expenses for staying away from his main residence even though neither property was in London or his constituency. Hunter's expenses files showed that during the year before he stood down he was asked twice by the Commons fees office to return an overpayment of £1,841.47 relating to previous expenses claims. After standing down in 2005, Hunter stated that he was moving to Northern Ireland and would be taking a pro active part in DUP politics. However, the subsequent death of his wife Jan, led to a hold on these plans.
The second article being promoted by team Bamber relates to his now lawyer and supporter Simon McKay whom we all know very well by now. The article is taken from the Yorkshire Post in June 2004 and is entitled, "McKay: A man rising through the ranks." Read more here. My colleague, who worked with the CCRC to dis-credit the 'expert' evidence on the recent CCRC submissions believes that Simon will eaisly lose the judicial review - if he stays around long enough for this case to go to it - he thinks he might quit before then due to lack of time and a need to get the £££ coming in.

You would think that if Simon McChancer is such a rising star he would have been able to earn himself a few bob wouldn't you? How many successful lawyers have to arrange two insolvency agreements (IVA's) to stave off personal bankruptsy.
I also notice that the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) judgement against McKay occurred shortly before his first IVA agreement in 2009. The judgement against him was for mishandling clients' funds; one does wonder if there is a link there somewhere!!!!!!!
