&%&£(+ why does the uk media try and hijack other peoples cases by mentioning the mcanns they do it all the time..... this child wasnt missing as such he was with his father
It does give further credence to the fact that most child abductions involve one or both parents.
Exactly. parental abduction is quite another matter, not similar at all.
Unless K or GM abducted ther own child then I dont see any relevance to this case with that story, unless MM uses her birth name to register for anythng at all, a bit ludicrous to say the least as all alarm bells would be going off!
It does give further credence to the fact that most child abductions involve one or both parents.
This case today merely highlights how it is possible to hide a living missing child in plain sight for 13 years without any suspicions being aroused. It reinforces the reasons for Madeleine's face & case details to be kept alive in the public's minds.Yup. 13 years of Dad being suspect and Dad getting away with it, and it took a mismatch in social security number to trip him up.
Just another example of unrelated cases being linked
No stranger abuction, kid was safe always, end of
The mccanns and/or journos using again, what a load of utter tosh

This story isn't of interest to UK readers. Dragging Madeleine's name into it is simply an effort to make it relevant. It must have been a slow news day and the pages needed filling. Why is this story. not of interest to UK readers? You speak for all UK readers do you?
Of course when the above posters want to discuss how many missing children there are they ALWAYS include the children abducted by a parent so lots of hypocrisy there. What this case does illustrate is that a missing child CAN be hidden for 15 years and that is relevant
This child was not in any danger, and there is no comparison in the circumstances whatsoever.
Precisely. No relation to this case at all.
Unless someone is suggesting one of the mccanns has been hiding Madeleine all this time. 8**8:/:
Now let me see ... Julian Hernandez vanishes with father and despite being on the missing children's register is not seen again for thirteen years.
Julian has been living a 'normal' life for those thirteen years totally unaware that he was a missing person.
Madeleine McCann vanishes and is a missing child who has not been seen since, as far as we know.
With any luck Madeleine too is living a 'normal' life unaware that she is a missing person.
In my opinion there is a definite correlation between both disappearances.

The reference to and clinging on to this case by mccann supporters, really emphasizes how desperate they are.
What correlation Brietta ?
Please explain your 'logic' in that statement.
What is desperate about hoping a missing child is alive and well ... given proof positive of exactly that situation.
Much preferable than denial of that hope without a shred of supporting evidence.
What kind of person is it who determines a child must be dead because her whereabouts are unknown?
... and his father was a good man?? You know this ... how?
Children abducted by their fathers have been killed by their fathers. Some paedophiles are fathers. Quite often courts have good reason when determining guardianship of children.
Julian was abducted by his father. Madeleine was abducted by person/s unknown. Both children were the victims of abduction.
What kind of people place their children in such a situation in the first place ?
As to thinking Madeleine is going to miraculously reappear from nowhere, then dream on.
i dont understand this connection seriously i dont this young man was 5 years old when he was taken by his father he would have most likley have known his father? he is 18 now and is alive so it doesnt compare to maddies case at all

What abduction brietta ?
Where is the proof of abduction as regards Madeleine ?
hypocrisy...no proof of an accident yet amaral states it as fact and writes a book....where is your criticism of him
Precisely. No relation to this case at all.
Unless someone is suggesting one of the mccanns has been hiding Madeleine all this time. 8**8:/:
It is highlighting the fact that children can be hidden away for 13 years without being found, all this father did was change the boys surname.
The schools should keep an eye on the missing persons list, it would have had a picture of him, he could have been found sooner.
It also keeps hope alive for Madeleine as she too could be going to school undetected.
The thing that struck me was that some little girls who were mistaken for Madeleine had a similar eye defect. I think one or two looked so like her that they were eliminated by DNA tests.
There is no reason to suppose that the person who stole Madeleine might not have made use of that information.
For example, falsifying results and speaking to the education authorities as a concerned parent whose child was always being mistaken for Madeleine which caused distress. The school in which the child was enrolled would then be in a position of trust and would protect the child ~ and thus the abductor ~ from all enquiries.
I am not saying this did happen ... but it is a way of getting round the eye defect, which apparently might be less noticeable as she ages, with minimum effort. Madeleine could therefore be hidden in full view.
Could well Brietta, nothing can be ruled out.
The thing is this boy was living for 13 years without being detected even though he was on the missing children register, makes you wonder if any of the schools check this register.
But then again the boy wasn't the most famous missing child in history, was he ?
I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are places where Madeleine has been forgotten.
To us she isn't as we have taken an extra interest in the case, but to those who haven't then, they carry on with their lives and Madeleine is left behind.
It is only when things such as this boy being found that triggers memories and that is why it is good that this story has been high lighted and Madeleine mentioned.
Really ? Not three days ago we had the non-story of the German paedophile which was picked up by many different newspapers in many different countries. To link this boy with Madeleine's case is opportunistic nonsense.
Nonsense, because the police wanted to know whether he had been in Portugal when Madeleine went missing?
I don't call that nonsense, he lured a small child away and murdered him and it wasn't the first, it is good to know the police are checking out every possibility.

If it's true, and I suspect it isn't, it means SY are truly clutching at straws and if I was a supporter I would be furious that after ten million pounds and over four years they still seem no nearer to finding Madeleine than they did when given their remit.

Sadly, this does not relate to Maddie's case as her's was not a parental abduction. It can only raise false hope. I wish the parents had answered my letter in June 2008, that could have resulted in a rescue. The fact is that nobody was listening, either the help-lines, the parents, or Leicester Police. I had nearly found the place in the spring, but couldn't finish the job due to a major breakdown. A return to the search area would have been over 1000 miles plus the ferry.
Why some support for expenses couldn't be given, when the public had donated millions for the search is something I still cannot understand. I felt at the time they had thrown away their best chance of finding dear Madeleine. I had a strong feeling of urgency.
I have never been wrong when police aren't involved, yet it is they who have effectively blocked their own investigation by ignoring my work. I have emailed all & sundry, written to Rt. Hon. Gordon Brown, (then PM), 'phoned the News of the World, replied to many articles, even emailed the European Police Union.
I can only hope now they will get some proper digging done after wading through all that B.S. It will now be a harder task with tons of earth to shift as the landowner apparently got wind of my discovery.
There are two other 'mysteries' I have the solutions to that have been treated the same way.
Look at it this way, there are people who can do amazing things like composing big orchestral symphonies or hit 'pop' songs; paint beautiful artworks in perfect detail. I can't do those, but I have a collection of talents which I bring together to find things that others miss. I am not wasting any more of my time & money looking for missing people until I get due recognition. My work is due equal attention as any so-called detective agencies'.

i still think it is pathetic that the uk media tried to link this story in the us to the mcanns/maddie

I had a look at a few of the US press and newsreels online. They don't make the McCann connection.
It's not reported in US the same way it is here.
although the cases are entirely different there is an obvious link
Yeah! laws have been broken.
no the point of interest and connection is could a missing child stay off the radar
Yes, the point of the story is to show that even after many years a child can be returned safe and well. These cases all appear to happen in the USA where disappearing is so much easier!
In this instance he was neither unsafe nor unwell and not wishing to be too picky he is an adult not a child and according to US reports is supportive of his father.

But there was never any question about the child being unsafe or unwell at any time...he was with his dad, who yes, took him illegally, but thats about it

This father isn't a killer.
So what has your post got to do with this case ?
Have you been following the discussion at all? If so you appear to have overlooked Mercury's post to which I was responding.
There were no guarantees when Julian was snatched by his father that he would indeed be OK. There are many cases here in Britain where children have been killed or abused by fathers who have taken them.
Only his father knew he was fine over the thirteen years taken from his extended family maternal and paternal.
If you cannot see the correlation ... there isn't a thing I can do about it ... but I think your problem may be that you actually do see that it is possible that a child whose whereabouts have dropped off the radar for thirteen years can still be found.
I do not have the time to read all posts on here, as I do have other matters to attend to.
However, the bottom line remains, no matter what spin is put on it.
There is no 'correlation' as you put it with this case and Madeleine's disappearance.

Indeed, time is of the essence when one has a busy life to get on with.
Perhaps you should have chosen a thread you hadn't actually commented on before disingenuously denying interest.
This is a five page thread.
To date you have posted on every single one of those pages ... your very first post on page one ... denying any correlation with Madeleine's case.
Are you just posting formulaic responses without bothering to read to what?
the link is a child who has managed to have been kept below the radar for 13 years...but you are too dim to see it
The whole point of this story being linked to Madeleine is as I said in an earlier post, this father managed to keep his son hidden for 13 years just by changing his surname. For all we know Madeleine could be in a country where there is no missing children register, and indeed, in one where there has been little interest in the case.
The school only noticed he was on the Missing Children registrar when he was having difficulties furthering his education.
Do schools check the missing children registrar?
Madeleine could be at a school right now, with a new name and maybe new hair colour.
For all we know Madeleine could be in a country where there is no missing children register, and indeed, in one where there has been little interest in the case.
and as this case proves a child can be missing and reappear after 13 years so however remote their is still hope for maddie
So is she with a paedophile or really nice family
To:#48, #49, Sorry late reply, got called away. Of course I've contacted Op.Grange (several times!). The discovery was of the actual house [ unconfirmed claim removed ] Later I had met a young German on holiday & described the place. When I returned to the site a year later I had intended removing the logs & digging up the bones (sorry, but there it is), I found they had completely covered the site with tons of earth from a nearby hillock. This makes further investigation impossible without a mechanical digger.
Photographs were taken & sent to S.Y. some time ago. The garden is now unusable as such.
Good point. The mother must have suspected her child was taken by the father who also disappeared. That reminds me of somebody in this case.
So what is to be learned from the Maddie situation and this thread.Without looking into the story, I am ignorant as to whether the mother cared, searched etc.

That matters not a jot.
A young child was moved from where he was located, then hidden in plain sight, and was not found until a bureaucratic check 13 years later revealed the truth.
Madeleine COULD be in a lot of places where no one is looking.
Portugal has strong links to Brazil. Has anything been done to find Madeleine there?
Portugal has strong links to Angola. Has anything ...
Portugal has strong links to ... (Please fill in the remainder of the sentence with wherever you choose, bearing in mind that Portugal had an empire that in living memory stretches around the globe.)
