I must admit I am no fan of Putin but the Turks f.....d up big time. Had the Russian bomber been a threat to Turkey then they might have had an excuse for shooting it down but it wasn't a threat so a huge fail. Would serve them bloody right if Putin bombed Istanbul.
Turkey has consistently allowed hundreds of thousands of migrants free access to Europe, countless poor souls have drowned because the incompetent Turks have failed to properly monitor their coastline. No sympathy for them at all!

It does seem there will be a majority vote for increased airstrikes, some excellent arguments and some excellent "thnking things/strategy/end game through properly" counter check arguments. Does make me wonder though why it took them so long to take action. I also think they will find if they want to seriously damage the mad cult the will need ground troops.
Also looks like Turkey at least is going to be in the doodoo big time for aiding and abetting ISIS...good! Two faced nobodies.

Allegedly they don't have the support of the British people. A case of them knowing best, is it? One MP said he was voting for air strikes because of what he had seen in the refugee camps. Well, there'll be more people in there if they escalate the conflict.

What i got out of watchng alot of it today was
Airstrikes cause civilian casualties always - ISIS are causing many many more as we speak in the most horrendous of ways too so lesser of two evils to bomb and take the risk
Camerons plans though seem to be short sigted and short term...not good enough
Will bombng more make a difference? Not much but some
People better in refugee camps than dead

I just wish I understood and/or could be sure what their motivations are: rejection of all things Western; desire for a state where some interpretation of Sharia law prevails; revenge for the Wests 'meddling' in the Middle East; revenge for experiencing real or perceived prejudices when living in the West; Palenstine's conflict with Israel; desire for wealth/power by taking control of oil production; or something else?

If i was ruler of the world I would evacuate all peoples , isolate this s..m pocket and blow them out of the earths orbit...actually out of the milky way

As JC is a pacifist I don't believe he would condone blowing terrorists to kingdom come as you have suggested. He prefers the "talk to them nicely and ask them not to be such silly billies" approach with terrorists, and tries his very best to see things from their point of view, bless his cotton socks and sandals.

Well, basically, yes. He seems to think that it will do the trick. Sorry, duck, I agree with you on some things, but when I look at the photos of those young, innocent, promising kids who died in Paris, my heart hardens. From a purely personal point of view, I won't be taking the train into Brum to do my Christmas shopping this year, and I resent feeling like that. 7/7 did it for me, it changed my perspective. And now, all this. It's not our fight (well, it certainly isn't mine) and it shouldn't be like this.

It was the ramble after that bit which I didn't quite get - it seemed to me (but as there was punctuation missing perhaps I misunderstood) that you were accusing me of supporting the arms industry which is (according to you) no better than Isis, whilst simultaneously advocating the utilization of arms to blow terrorists to kingdom come, a position which your fave politician certainly does not support, a point which I made earlier and which you seem to have an issue with.

Correct, I didnt call you personally a supporter of the arms trade, just asking you to square it all up. Arms are very useful in certain circumstances, never the answer to all which seems t be the name of the game too much of the time..."generally speaking" in case you decide to get upiity again

I think to defeat the terrorists we need to understand what motivates them. I can't think of a similar threat? In the past we have been able to clearly identify our enemies, their motivations, objectives and strategies eg Nazis and IRA. With ISIS they are here, there and everywhere. They deploy different strategies eg blowing up planes, shooting victims sunbathing on a beach or attending a rock concert. Some flee. Some blow themselves up. In their dying moments some rant about Allah. Others rant about the West meddling in the Middle East. It is claimed by some the terrorists believe they are going to paradise to be greeted by 72 female virgins but surely this doesn't account for the female suicide bombers. And so it goes on...
Oh and the couple involved in the terror attack in US leave a now orphaned child.
