I don't think there is one but many years ago I was listening to Dr Hilary Jones (breakfast tv) and he advised to take a couple of paracetamol before a session. Since then I have always followed his advice and been hangover free! However it might be a bit of a placebo effect in that I'm mindful of drinking having made the conscious decision to take the paracetamol and might then pace myself more than I ordinarily would!
Most people don't seem to understand the units so here's the formula:
Typical bottle of beer = 330ml x 5%ABV divide by 1000 = 1.65 units (on the bottles rounded up to 1.7 units)
Large glass of wine = 250ml x 12%ABV divide by 1000 = 3.00 units
Vodka and lime = 25ml x 40%ABV divide by 1000 = 1 unit
Half pint of beer = 284ml x 4%ABV divide by 1000 = 1.1 units (rounded down)
Pint of beer = 568ml x 4%ABV divide by 1000 = 2.3 units (rounded up)
Government recommended guidelines are:
Females 2 - 3 units daily (unless pregnant of course)
Males 3 - 4 units daily
I can easily consume 7/8 units (no paracetamol required) thereafter I feel the effects the following day unless it's a long drawn out session and/or I've taken some paracetamol. Not much really. 3 large glasses of wine, equivalent to a bottle, and I could be anyone's @)(++(*
Anyway I hope you all have a great Christmas and New Year, hangover free 8((()*/
