Precisely Merc - There have been eight investigation outfits:
PJ(Amaral)
CR
PJ(Rebelo)
M3
Oakley
Alphaig
PJ(post-Rebelo)
Met(Redwood)
Met(Wall)
- and none of them have solved even 1% of the case - an indication of a drastically illogical assumption in the very core all 8 investigations IMO.

It's quite simple Robbity,"abduction" means illegally taking a live person, "non-abduction" covers everything else.

It is a very poor investigation that does not consider all scenarios in an investigation. The trick is not to get bogged down in personal conviction and refuse to budge from it. The professional strategy is to find the evidence and follow it to its conclusion or for as far as it will go.
What do those who prefer to believe that the PJ and SY are not investigating stranger abduction think they are presently investigating?

The independent PJ and SY investigations are being conducted under Portuguese rules and they are not big on press conferences. Good to see that 'a source close to the investigation' has been gagged and as a result we have had no misleading leaks to the tabloids for quite some time.

Their recent sound bites about reduced staff limited budget and no more forensics says IMO they are stlil restricting their brains to a very small and incorrect window of time Merc.

They are doing a review of all investigations conducted, advise the PJ with special expertese they have under the homicide and serious crime squad, to move the PJs investigation forward, but seeing as a review is not enough to move to "an action stage" will need to do investigative work themselves...in other words from day one its been a sy investigation...deapite 2013 being the official date it was an sy investigation IMO

Op Grange Remit
The support and expertise proffered by the Commissioner will be provided by the Homicide & Serious Crime Command - SCD1.
The activity, in the first instance, will be that of an ‘investigative review’. This will entail a review of the whole of the investigation(s) which have been conducted in to the circumstances of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance.
The focus of the review will be of the material held by three main stakeholders (and in the following order of primacy);
• The Portuguese Law Enforcement agencies.
• UK Law Enforcement agencies,
• Other private investigative agencies/staff and organisations.
The investigative review is intended to collate, record and analyse what has gone before.
It is to examine the case and seek to determine, (as if the abduction occurred in the UK) what additional, new investigative approaches we would take and which can assist the Portuguese authorities in progressing the matter. Whilst ordinarily a review has no investigative remit whatsoever- the scale and extent of this enquiry cannot permit for such an approach. It will take too long to progress to any “action stage” if activity is given wholly and solely to a review process.
The ‘investigative review’ will be conducted with transparency, openness and thoroughness.
The work will be overseen through the Gold Group management structure, which will also manage the central relationships with other key stakeholders and provide continuing oversight and direction to the investigative remit.
