The whole kit is light and easy to carry.  I'm not saying you would want to climb a mountain with it but a jaunt on the flat for a fit farmer no probs!

I'm not saying my windsuring theory is correct but as far as I can see it's as plausible as other theories put forward?

That was a 2015 teenager's mini-surfboard he was packing up and carrying.  In 1985 when windsurfing was in its infancy, boards were larger and made of heavier materials than they are today.

Please note that I have given these posts their own thread as the theory put forward by Holly is both interesting and plausible. 

For what its worth I don't think he used any form of water transport that night, for a start it was too weather dependent and risky.  It was much easier just to cycle to the farm in the darkness along the main road and the hard farm tracks avoiding the headlights of any passing traffic as he went.  If he needed to change clothes he could have made all the preparations easily in advance and hidden all he wanted somewhere along the tracks.

Jeremy explained away the presence of his mother's bicycle at the cottage in Goldhanger as being transport for Julie to get to the station.  Julie summarily denied this.

There was also the matter of the caked mud on the sidewalls of the bicycle tyres which Jeremy could not explain.

There was nothing to stop JB using a windsurfer to travel to and from WHF.  I've found a youtube vid of a windsurfer on the River Blackwater.  It would take next to no time for JB to stroll down to the seawall where he could have hidden his windsurfer and it would take probably 5 mins to hook round to WHF - see map above.  Pages Lane is between Lauriston Farm and Rolls Farm.

He might have attached a lamping light to the boom head which he could then remove for the short walk from the river up the field and onto Pages Lane.

What JB actually done was this. He borrowed Lord Lucan's sea plane like the one in the picture below.
Brett Collins then flew and landed the plane out to sea, then JB windsurfed to the sea plane while Brett Collins was waiting for him, then they took off and flew over WHF at high altitude and JB jumped out and parachuted to the roof of White house farm!

I believe that Holly has taken this 'April fools' thing, too far!  At least, I hope she has.  I would never be able to take her seriously again, otherwise.
