That is inaccurate, Robbity.

The McCanns said: “Madeleine does not like to be called Maddie and does not answer to Maddie”.
http://madeleinemythsexposed.pbworks.com/w/page/39077705/Rebuttal%20of%20%22Fact%22%2014  Kate made no claim that no-one ever called her 'Maddie'.
Weird.  Calling out to a kid a name she doesn't respond to.

Yes strange when it is claimed she introduced herself to nannies as Maddy.

"Kate returned through the reception area standing at the end of the path near the stones, and yelled over towards our table in the Tapas bar I cannot recall exactly what she yelled but it was along the lines of Maddy is missing.  We all got up immediately except Dianne who remained at the table."

"That was terrible for them," says John McCann, Mr McCann's elder brother, who has also travelled to Portugal to help search for his niece.

"Kate dressed Amelie in her sister's pyjamas and the baby said: 'Maddy's jammies. Where is Maddy?' But she is too young to understand. And how do you explain? All we know is that Madeleine needs her family. She loves us, we love her. It is time for her to come home."'

Jon Corner, founder of Liverpool-based River Media, is godfather to the McCann’s twins and his wife has known Mrs McCann since they were both three. The co-founder of city centre-based River Media, and a father-of-three himself, said: “Kate phoned me in the early hours totally devastated."
"She just told me that Maddy had been abducted, that the shutters of the apartment had been forced and someone had taken her."
"Maddy was asleep in the room with Sean and Amelie and whoever has taken her has gone straight past the sleeping twins, left them completely alone and snatched Maddy."
"Kate is just so distressed. She doesn’t know what to do. It has knocked me and everyone else for six. It doesn’t actually seem real."

Smithman carrying a child in his arms checked his watch after passing the Smith family and the time was 10:03. Both are still unidentified 10 years later.

A staged crime scene ?

Perhaps you should explain what you mean by that.
by staged crime scene, I apologise to Goncalo if his view of it differs to mine, but to me if Madeleine left the apartment via the sliding door or the front door and not the kid's bedroom window, the opening of the window and raising the shutters was unnecessary and hence "staged".  Staged in the sense that anyone finding that would think Madeleine was taken and left via the car park side of the building.
Even though the signs were there the early searching seems to be on the Tapas side of the apartment.  So the Tapas group aren't persuaded that the scene means an exit via the carpark side.  Unexplainable.

It was a phrase or something similar that has been used by the PJ (Tavares and Goncalo, and just about all the senior OC management saying "there was no sign of a break-in" or such like.
What it meant to the PJ seemed to allow them to point the finger back at the parents in the sense "they killed the child but staged it to look like an abduction".  That is only one possible option.  I think good detective work should have allowed them to explore other options that would give a similar appearance (scene) and result (MM missing).
This was another explanation of staged crime scene.

His 21.40 doesn't sit well with Gerry et al being at the table at 22.00.
What were your thoughts Jassi?

Hard to argue against that.

Think on this evidence. Two people missing at 9.10pm. Mrs Carpenter is alleged to have heard someone calling 'Madeleine' some time between 9.15-9.30pm. The chef finds the table empty at 9.40pm......

Compare the 'official' evidence.

Gerry and Jane checking at 9.10pm. Dianne in the loo? (she said she visited it) so three couples at the table. An empty table with belongings on it? Dianne left the belongings when she went to 5A the first time, then went back for them.

Found empty at 9:40 but we don't know what time they all left.  it must have been before that so what about the story of Russell returning to finish his meal?  Those two events would seem rather incompatible.

If the phone call had been made earlier the call out to Odiaxere may not yet have happened and the Police could turn up much more promptly.  There would have been less contamination of the crime scene, scent trails would be fresher.
An earlier call could have made a world of difference to the outcome.  The mere fact that the McCanns wanted the police to arrive the sooner the better makes any suspicion that they hid Madeleine's body a bit suspect.
