The point is frequently (and rightly!) made that the Renault was hired 3 weeks after Madeleine's abduction.

Equally: Of 9 cars (nominally) inspected and 1 car (actually) 7 were owned or driven by people never suspects in the case.

Harrison recommended that (sic) all cars owned or driven by Murat should be inspected by the dogs.  One (a car Murat hired) never made the line-up; 8 Harrison said nothing about did.

AND

The inspection at the villa.  Why?  Madeleine never lived there

Even more so, the inspection following at the gym.

Madeleine never lived there either.

Harrison's reaction to what he saw of both inspections at villa and gym was to issue PJ personnel with translated National Policing Improvement Agency instructions on how to conduct searches in buildings and vehicles.

The PJ appeared to have cribbed from some of this literature in their report of the inspection at the gym ...

None of these inspections were carried out under any sort of legal guidelines or chains of evidence, so they were never going to be of any use in a Court of Law.  In fact, one wonders why they were ever done because they were useless.

I don't think the searches were done for any other purpose that to scare The McCanns into a confession.  That went well, didn't it.  And it cost The PJ and The Portuguese people a huge amount of money.

Please tell me I am right.  Surely The PJ couldn't have been so incompetent as to believe that these searches could be used during a Trial.  If that is the level of their investigation skills then I am surprised that they catch anyone.

Oh, sorry, I forgot.  Some of them have other means. Means that were denied to them in The McCann Affair.

Not entirely convinced about that, I must admit.

I have another theory.

But I'll stay stum on that for the time being.

A malicious prosecution for a crime which never existed. An exposé of egregious malfeasance by public officials.

Fair enough John - you are the boss, but I think you need to know that several members here are getting increasingly browned off about the fact that consistenly nasty and abusive posters are allowed to stay on this forum.

Yes...noted.  We have had a couple of days almost report free which was nice for a change.  If only it could continue.
