If I can stay on topic - has the MM investigation lost its way.
Amaral had a crack, whether you rate him or not, and did not solve the case.
His successor had a crack, whether you rate him or not, and did not solve the case. The case was then shelved as unlikely to produce a resolution.
Andy Redwood had a crack, whether you rate him or not, and did not solve the case. Obviously I cannot say what SY has learned in detail since I am not on the inside track. From the outside, it took them flying around 20+ officers, technicians and spaniels to learn that digging a hole in the Algarve is difficult, and hopefully that dumping a body in central Luz defines stupidity.
Has the investigation lost its way? No, it is being meticulous, and following all options within its remit. Slowly, methodically, expensively, painfully.
How do you crack a crime that occurred in Luz? You visit the scene and you get a degree of familiarity with it. Just like any other crime scene.
Luz has no permanent police presence for the simple reason that we do not need one.
Therefore - the GNR have an elementary understanding of Luz - the ones that pop in from time to time from Lagos.
The PJ have a non-existent understanding of Luz. After all, the PJ in Portimão are 20 to 25 minutes down the road.
Amaral was another non-understander. Read his book, because it is excellent reading. On Friday 4th May he criss-crossed Luz, finding most places closed down by 8:30pm, and the locals said it was the same the night before (when Madeleine disappeared). Except the PJ files show this is not the case, and when I get the time at ShiningInLuz, I will show that central Luz was lit up like a Xmas tree on 3 May 2007, and the reason why.
Rebelo (?) - have I got Amaral's successors name right? Ditto another outsider who breezed in, did cursory checks within the area, did not understand Luz, and breezed out again.
Redwood. I may be wrong but his closest connection to Luz is flying over in a helicopter, with the Sky News helicopter in hot pursuit, followed by digging up a hill in central Luz to explain 'anomalies'.
Wall. Is she going to puts boots-on-ground? In Luz? Not digging it up or flying over it? As a resident of Luz I would LOVE to see the current investigators over here, in Luz, looking at things like - apartment 5A -the location of the Smith sighting - why to the beach, to the beach is arrant nonsense.
I find it extremely difficult to understand how SY hopes to solve this with getting a basic grounding of how Luz worked.
I don't think they have lost their way. I don't think they ever knew where they were headed.
Personally Shining, I think it is solved .... but they haven't got enough evidence with such mega important peeps and an important organisation involved.
And I wonder if they will ever be able to take the elite perps, the organisers, who are the main culprits, to task. Maybe, at the appropriate time, the smaller guys who did the actual physical work will be charged? But also, maybe, they will have immensely powerful backing and be saved?
Unhappily, some people are untouchables.
Anyway, my job is done, as far as I am concerned ... altho I might pop in and counter some lies on here from time to time.
Well done all you guys who are still battling the ongoing lies, twists and myths with facts.
I am tired now and in semi-retirement.
Keep up the good work.
