You'd be amazed at the lengths some people will go to to make an insurance claim - especially if their income has been adversely affected. Just a theory, though.

The burglary - how did the caller know the McCanns were going to call phone 112 20 minutes later? What if their call had been made at 2210 hrs? How did the caller know there was only one GNR patrol that night?

IF there was an abduction then only the abductors knew what time this would take place. They would not know when the parents would discover the child missing or when they would raise the alarm. I don't think they could arrange this to spot timing. The last known independant sighting of Maddie alive was early in the day.
