I thought UK police wrote things down after the event so that their statements agreed  8(0(*

They write things down as to not forget what they did or what they heard.

Pretty normal for me. I'd be way more wary of two identical accounts, suggesting collusion. So actually it suggests that they were both hiding nothing.

You would be more wary of two identical accounts,  from Police Officers,  really?    I wouldn't,  good grief they are supposed to write down exactly what happened and what was said.

It is not uncommon for ordinary public to contradict each other, but not Police Officers.

I watched a true crime episode where a man thinking he was clever took his shoes off to enter an apartment where he killed two girls (I think it was two)  anyway he stood on a card that was on the floor and they got a good print of his foot.   He didn't live far from the apartment.
To do that is it right to assume casts were taken of suspects feet,in this case its not even determined whether the finger print is of a  youth which usually which refers to the male of the species or a woman, narrows it right down .
